Kinda tangential to this thread, so sharing here. I just saw this on FB as evidently a buddy got one.
https://www.simmonssportinggoods.com...g-range-torch/ I see no purpose in this except to giggle like a fool. There is a backpack tank that extends the time from 1-2 seconds to 27s. But I gotta say the thought of strapping fuel to my body attached to a flamethrower is kinda scary IMO. |

I wonder if you can mix in a thickening agent with the fuel to prevent it from burning off so quickly and go further like a real flamethrower. |

We had a family gathering last weekend and my dad brought out a couple guns he'd been hanging onto. One was a Montgomery Ward Western Field SB-100B, single shot 12ga break, probably quite old, but really well worn. It was just left behind at his house when he bought it, over 20 years ago now, and the previous owner lived there for 50 or 60 years.
The other, though, I forgot to write down the exact model (argh). A Mossberg 22 bolt action with magazine that my dad, who's 81 now, said his dad gave him when he was in middle school, so ~1952-54. Never even fired and was basically brand new, still in the little canvas sack it might have come in. Dads going to do some research into it and probably give it to my son. I have a few little rifles, but this one was neat cause there was definitely NO plastic or anything at all. Felt way different. |

I just bought a set of wood grips for by old P220 because I field stripped it alongside a 1911 to show someone how Browning’s ideas matured. They both looked so nice laid out but the 220 was definitely missing something. |

They sold all but 4 of them @ $6xx +$250iirc for the backpack Still waiting on the replacements. Turns out the company tests their loads out of a 10.3" and an 8" barrel. They're going to load some lighter and send them out. Allegedly. |

Have the laws changed for Polymer 80 frames and kits lately? Looks like Midway doesn't sell them anymore. Very few listings if any on gun.deals nowadays. None are in stock on Polymer80's website. Have they gone back to being labeled as 'only bad guys make these'? Asking for a friend, of course.
And no, I don't want to have a political discussion. That's what the other place is for. Just wondering what the current temperature is. |

My buddy let me shoot his .17 caliber rifle over the weekend - said they were far superior to .22's for taking care of varmits. I have quite a few turtles among other things that I need to get rid of because they're eating all my fish.
Is there a decent brand of .17 that I should be looking for? I would like to buy one with a scope already on it...maybe in the $500 range? Is there any reason to go with a center fire vs a rim fire? His was a Marlin brand with a bull barrel on it. |

anything in 17 under 500 bones is probably only going to be a savage bolt action 17HMR. a centerfire is always better if you reload, but then you really start getting into money as cheap production guns just dont exist in 17cal, nor does commercial ammo.

Ha, they're eating all my fish. I'll bet there's 50-100 of them in my 2-acre pond. I didn't realize it was a thing until my buddy told me that I'd probably never have a decent stock if I didn't get rid of them. And so it goes, they must go. The hunter becomes the hunted (and fish food).

The Biden administration supports responsible gun ownership.
Apparently they're making it difficult to import Russian steel case. |
