They should do a wilderness BRZ. Make it a Safari style with some extra travel. It would be a good niche product.

Bring back the WRX hatch with a minor lift, skid plates and some beefier tires on Method style rims would be a seller. I'd buy that WRX tomorrow.

To make it simple just bring out a Wilderness Levorg. It's really simple.

Fixed. The complaints about the CVT tune and gearing have been mounting. Time to ditch the CVT Subaru.

we know the crosstrek is next for a possible wilderness package. will the ascent and solterra follow with such a package. also it is possible the ascent will only get the 9.2 ground clearance for the same reason as the forester, the high roof. but will the crosstrek get the same ground clearance as the outback. would be quite interesting for such a narrow wheelbase. but would it get the 2.5, the 2.4 na, 2.4dit, or a brand new 1.8 dit

I saw one of these Wilderness Outbacks around town the other day. It was remarkably ugly. I hadn't noticed the garish gold trim all over them in pictures, but they're pretty **** in person.

I hope it's toned down with the WildernessRX.

When the Forester Sport first came out, what I saw was a pretty even split down the middle of those that hated the metallic orange trim and those that liked it. Since then, though, it leans more to people liking it. When it comes to the Wilderness, however, I haven't heard the first complaint yet for the copper trim. Could they just be ignoring it? Sure? But, it's not like a Subaru customer not to voice their complaints.

I like the copper bits. But, alas, I am but a humble fanboi, and thus my opinion is rendered moot.

Don't feel too bad, pal. Look on the bright side -- at least you're not a salesman!

Really cool. They are very quick too now with the FA24DIT.

CVT limits the Outback's ability to put down power in low-traction situations
Well that kinda negates the point of this thing.

I saw one of these on the road a few days ago.

Looked like a cheap ass base model from the 90's with all of the unpainted black. The orange stickers reminded me of the goofballs that put reflective stickers on their bumpers to make them "more visible".

The "wilderness" badges are ****ing ugly and surprisingly big, right?

I would take the bronco sport over the outback if I could live without all that wonderful cargo room. I would never ever buy the wilderness package.

It is pretty strange how badly they bagged on the offoroad capabilities of the wilderness. Everywhere else I have read the Subaru did great. What the hell were they trying to go over?

So the Bronco Sport is the one to get. I certainly agree with the RAV-4 last. It's as mediocre as it is popular.

Rav-4 looks the part though, and is likely good enough for nearly all of the people buying vehicles in this category.

also, when I was briefly interested in getting one, I found some off-road testing videos that showed the rav-4 outperforming a forester, so there is that. Oh and no CVT... So for cars in this category, I think I'd put the forester pretty far down the list...

The Outback is a great alternative to the CUV's. I would get one of the others in a heartbeat but I am not in the market for this type of vehicle. Subaru will have no issues selling every single one of these special editions.

I finally saw one of these at the dealership. The copper bits do stand out. For some reason, the wheels look out of place, almost like they were taken from a different make vehicle.

Good review of the Outback Wilderness bombing around some rather rough dirt roads...
