Default Should we try to organize a cruise?

You know like the days of old. I wouldn't mind getting together with some NWIC members.

Like a lot of us here, I've also rejected facebook in its entirety. I left the scene 10 years ago and came back to this.

So, I think we can be socially distant and safe, and we could meet at a designated place and just take a cruise.

I dont mind trying to set this up. I am located on the eastside, but spend a lot of time in snohomish, skagit, and whatcom county.

Any takers?

Update

So, here we go!

I was having a very hard time determining a meet place. I wanted to do a form of a 'subie parade' but... keep us from having to get too far off the freeway while trying to keep minimal lights between our meetup spot and the freeway.

This is the park and ride in Sultan - meet at 9:30 AM on Sunday September 20th
31900 US-2, Sultan, WA 98294
There should be a large enough parking lot here. Hoping we can stage here for a bit to give everyone enough time to show up - roll out by 10:15 AM!

Route Plan:

196 miles
3hr 31min no traffic

1. We can leave the parking lot as a group and stay together, convoy east over the pass

2. We stay on this road, and take a left on 207 to head north

3. Go right on Chumstick Highway

4. We stay on Chumstick all the way through to Leavenworth, we go left to get back on US2

5. Let's go meet at the Shell Station: 9255 Foster Rd, Dryden, WA 98821

6. Let's turn around and head back 1 mile to 97, take 97 south and continue onto 970 to 10 (just keep going forward, should be natural intersections)

7. Let's get onto i90 west, and head back - people can start peeling off around highway 18, 203, and 405.

I would be down, but I would want to wait until my build is done

hopefully by the end of this month or so!

I'm in Redmond moving to Issaquah at the end of the month.

Sounds like we are gonna have some traction pulling something together

My weekend is Sunday and Monday. I dedicate Mondays to road trips so that day is really good for me - what works for others?

Otherwise I typically get off work around 530pm.

I am down for anything from a quick run to Snoqualmie pass all the way to doing the cascade loop or circling Rainier - basically I'm down for the drive, the destination is secondary!

agreed, I will be craving to drive once my build is done. I am good with whatever, can take a day off with a little heads up also so Monday will work for me!

Ok, that's pretty close to me, near Lake Sammamish. All my fun cars are broken right now, so I'll get on trying to fix them ASAP!

Sounds great everyone. Sounds like its shaping up to be a good time! More interest than I expected

I am cool with planning this a little further out, say mid or late Aug?

Anyone have any feelings on distance or time?

As far as distance I would say as long as we can do it in a day I am game. The later in August the better for me. My car is currently at Surgeline in Portland , but worst case I can always grab my 02 outback

I'd be down if it can be on a Sunday. Got a friend who also might be down too. We're up in the North End Bothell/Everett area.

What do we think about keeping it short for a first time?

Something like meet at a grocery store parking lot on 90 east of 405, east to 970, up to 97, west on 2, up out of Leavenworth to Plain, down back to 2 and we split up in Monroe?

Could be reverse route too.

Sunday Sep 19 or Monday Sep 20th.
Sunday Sep 26 or Monday Sep 27th.

Any feedback?

Short route is a good call. Travel plan looks solid. Any or both of those Sunday's are cool for me.

Sunday September 19th it is!

Let me come up with specifics and I'll post next chance (times, locations).

Due to covid I havent gone to a restaurant or anything so I'd say plan on bringing a lunch or snack, and water. We can pull off somewhere as a group.

I dont know about the rest of everyone, but I get about 14mpg so I'm gonna have to stop once, likely in leavenworth for gas.

If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas or anything please post here.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to this!

That seems like a solid plan - I have a large deadline at work on the 16th so the 19th works perfect for a nice relaxing drive!

Moving day bump! Just wanted to let everyone know I am still working on this. This is my last day of work for a week.

I will be updating the first post with a roster, as well as a general route and meetup location.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at a safe distance!

So I have to ask, is the guy with the straw hat, chopped classic wagon in Issaquah going to be joining us?

I'll be the black and white straight piped classic, we met on the street about 2 months ago.
