Not sure if it counts as "northern" NJ but Victory Subaru in Somerset, NJ has been great in the service/parts department. Didn't buy my WRX from Victory but they've done all the work on the car since then and the service guys treat me like family.

Thumbs up RE: Ramsey Subaru

Man, its funny and weird reading these old reviews! My dealership has gone from being the worst place to get your WRX in the past, to the best place to go today. And I've gone from a regular board member / enthusiast, to the sales manager over here at Ramsey in the same time period. I am Clayton, the guy referenced in a few of the reviews above for Ramsey. I've been the manager over here at Ramsey for a couple of years now, and have been running a $500 below invoice deal on Clubwrx.net for around 5 years. If anyone is looking for a no BS experience and great price on a WRX in the northeast, definitely check me out on clubwrx.net, same user name as here. I look forward to helping you guys out, making some new friends along the way, and making negative reviews of Ramsey Subaru ancient history!

Default I agree!!

"Paul miller is a pretty reputable franchise. Also avoid bill kolb and Subaru world of newton like the plague. Dealt with both and I would rather chop my hands off then do that again"

I agree Paul Miller is in the same town my brother is a cop and they look on those dealerships much more highly than the rest. Plus they really help out the first responders

Default Ramsey Auto Group

I bought a 2003 Audi A4 from Ramsey Auto Group back in like 2008; and while I wasn't super happy about the professionalism with some in the company, I have to say that the car they sold me was completely sound and at a rather good price in the end

I haven't seen any mention about Subaru of Morristown. So here is my take on them.

I bought my 2016 WRX from Them. I had a pretty bad experience trying to get my WRX from Island Subaru here in NY (since this thread is for Northern NJ dealers, I won't go into detail). so I made an appointment with Morristown. What a pleasure. The salespersons name was Bob (I don't remember his last name) & he was a pleasure to deal with. They didn't have the one I wanted in stock, we negotiated a price, they ordered the car, and in a little over a month The car was delivered. Went there, finalized the deal and drove home. I truly had a good experience & would buy my next Subaru from them. I would do my service with them but are too far away from me.

Making the drive up from South Jersey today to Ramsey Subaru to take a look at a car. Heard some good things about them from many people. Hoping to validate that myself

If you want the most awful experience ever from a dealership definitely suggest Freehold Subaru Dealership on Rt 9.

Sales guy didn't know different trims of Subaru. you can't sell something you have no clue about. Was rude, and tried to give me outrages quotes. The guy was so bad, that the manager ended up taking over the sale because we were about to walk out of the dealership.

all in all horrible experience, but scored two sets of free all weathermats

Hi Everyone!

Anyone have any recommendations on good dealerships in northern or central Jersey? I realize this thread is 3 pages long and has a lot of good info but the last post is over a year old. Is it me or a lot of Subie dealers are nowhere near as good as they used to be?

I have tried Morristown, Rt.46 and Wayne for service and sales. They all are pretty much equally terrible and for some reason it is difficult for me to buy a car from a place that tried to take advantage of me even if it was a different dept.

-Morristown tried to sell me $1,000+ of unnecessary work when I had my car there for a recall.

-Rt.46 (Hackettstown) let my wife and I test drive a Legacy only in their parking lot because the gas was so low and would not budge on the price (yes I had an appointment to see the car so they knew I would be there.) I ended up buying a Legacy from Wayne and it was a pretty good experience. Rt.46 Subaru was recently bought by the Rt.46 family of dealerships out of Totowa (46 Dodge, 46 Nissan,46 Mitsubishi) all of which have terrible reviews so I am sure the place is even worse now.

-Wayne went out of their way to deny warranty work after SOA and I negotiated that I would get a new cat under warranty because I am due for inspection (this was cleared with SOA customer service reps as well as their management). Gave Wayne Subaru a case number and all. They sounded like they were not interested in doing it and said they had to look into and verify the coverage. They called the next day to tell me that SOA looked more closely into it and I am no longer covered. I think they called and talked SOA out of it. I bought 3 cars there so you would think they would be somewhat loyal. The guy who called to tell me the bad news sounded like he was getting off on telling me. Now SOA is just going to pay my local/regular mechanic for the new cat.

I am planning on replacing my current 08 Outback in about 2 years and I want to start looking at potential dealerships to shop. I was going to buy from Wayne until they tried to pull that BS with me.

Thanks in advance!

I know this is an old thread, but for anyone interested, I had a very good experience in November '19 dealing with Dan Rovelli at Liberty Subaru in Emerson, NJ. Purchased a 2019 Impreza.

I would avoid Morristown at all costs. Their service department are a bunch of rude people that are unwilling to work with anyone that works on their own car. Mention AZP Installs and they bad mouth the work and how they "see so many problematic cars that have been to AZP" - Victoria in service They try to sell you $1000's of unnecessary work because they dont have "records" in their system. Well if they looked at receipts in the system they would see all the parts purchased there. Pull in with an STi...it must be modded and tuned. I really dont know how Patrick in parts who in on this board stands to work there. Hes a good dude but the rest of that place is awful. If you must visit a dealer Paul Miller is just up the road and really great in Service and Parts.
