Fortunately, no, the back glass was not tinted, just the doors. But, I haven't really tested the rear defroster regardless since I live in Tucson, AZ and it's balls hot still. Been over 100 (just barely) all week and it's not cooling down until next week.

Speaking of the back glass, I forgot to update that I replaced the weather cracked and worn out upper window molding this week. I also have the molding for the windshield but need to have that replaced before installing the new molding. I think eventually I'll be replacing most of the outer weather strip moldings as they are disintegrating.

That is a huge plus that the back glass wasn't tinted. I will be attempting to take the back window tint off sometime in September. I'm not looking forward to it.

Steam is a big help, it softens up the glue holding the tint. Make sure you strip out the back seat and package shelf first to avoid damage to them. Easy to do.

I agree with the stream. I have also heard of people taping a trash bag around the window with ammonia (windex) in between the bag and glass and it'll help with pulling the tint up. Have you ever tried that?

Nope, haven't tried that one, just the steam.

Windshield being replaced tomorrow. I pulled the cowl tonight and did some cleaning, do some more tomorrow as well before they get here to replace the glass. It's got some rock chips that are line of site and and old repair that is failing. Plus it's pretty sand blasted so a new one will be nice. Replacing the weather stripping around the outside of it as well.

This thing was filthy underneath the cowl from sitting outside for so long.

The original reveal molding is all cracked and ****ty. New OEM molding will go on with the new windshield. The rear window reveal molding was worse, already replaced that.

You can see the failed chip repair in this shot. That's about center of the windshield, just below the rear view mirror And another chip right below it.

This one is directly in line of site from the driver seat.

Much cleaner now.

Almost forgot, wheels and tires are in the mount/balance stage with Fitment. So hopefully, I have a tracking number soon, like within the next week.

New windshield and reveal molding installed this morning. I was also able to take some of the negative camber out of the rear wheels. They went from neg 3.0 to neg 1.4 degrees. Much better.

New wheels and tires should be here Wednesday too. Finally be able to start driving this car!

Replaced the 2 upper power steering hoses this morning. Surprisingly easy, with virtually no loss (mess) of PS fluid.

Lines and reservoir removed. Got all that mess cleaned up sine I had room.

Check the spark plugs while I was in the area and had easy access. Found one of the plugs had a broken lock tab so have a replacement on order now from iWire. Plugs I had bought are wrong for my setup. The car is running a heat range colder, LFR7AIX. Decided to play it safe and get matching plugs, besides, the one that I pulled looked in good shape still.

New, OEM PS hoses.

Cleaned everything up, reinstalled and topped off and bled with fresh ATF.

Welp, got the wrong front CV axles from Napa. Need to return them. I was going to change them out today. Glad I did some more research this morning before tearing everything apart. Probably just order new OEM boots instead and rebuild the OEM axles in the car now.

STI front CV axles are shorter than the WRX or regular Impreza. The length is measured from small end of one boot to small end of the opposite boot and should be right around 11.44 inches/295.6mm. The Napa axles I got are too long.

Napa new CV axles are made by a company called Advanced Innovative Technology. They in turn own TrakMotive, the actual manufacturer. After reading up on the swap process in the service manual, I was looking at the dimensions diagram and noticed the STI front CV axles are actually a little shorter. So I started digging to make sure the Napa axles I bought were the right ones. Napa doesn't specify a STI option on their website. Which led me to try and find the manufacturer to see if I could get the axle specifics from them. That led me to TrakMotives website where they do list the specific axle for the STI.

The axles that I got from Napa are Part #: NCV 942078 which is the TrakMotive SB-8040, Application: H4 2.5L 2458cc, WRX, Sedan, Manual Transmission.

The STI axles, TrakMotive lists as SB-8128, Application: H4 2.5L 2458cc, WRX STI, Sedan. I haven't found those on Napa's site yet.

Update: Looks like O'Reilly's carries the SB-8128 CV axles.

Took a drive out the the Titan Missile Silo site that's near me. It's just the remains, they blew it up years ago. Only contrate pads remain. But it has a nice mountain back drop so I took some pictures. Last time with these wheels, assuming the new ones show up on Wednesday like they're supposed to. I've been on the lookout for the proper STI wing for it as well. Nothing reasonable yet.

Wrap that I want is still on backorder as well.

Thanks! Hopefully, the wheels show up from Fitment tomorrow as they are supposed to. I paid for expedited shipping and got notified of the shipping last Thursday. Suspension is probably a couple weeks out still, going with Fortune Auto 500s with Swift springs. Hoping they will be better than the ISCs on there now. They should be.

Returned the Front CV axles I got from Napa, since they weren't the right ones. Ordered up boot kits instead and will just rebuild the current axles. They aren't clicking in turns, I only hear the occasional click when I start rolling from a stop. So they shouldn't be too bad.

Just waiting on a lot of small parts right now to finish up a few things, like getting the cowl reinstalled.

Fedex just updated my shipping info. Wheels are now Tuesday next week, 9/7. Not sure why I paid an extra $150 for expedited shipping now...

nice work! is that oil pressure I also see on the sandwich plate for the oil temp ? The oil temp is going to a dedicated gauge and not the ECU?

Yessir! Oil temp is the one that I replaced, the smaller, silver one. The other is oil pressure. Both go to dedicated Prosport gauges in the ATI triple gauge pod.

Couple small things added to satisfy my personal taste.

Cobb Tuning reverse shift lockout and Killer B teardrop shift knob. ****ty pic, I should have opened the garage door.

Thanks! Many changes are coming, both appearance and performance wise. It's just a slow process unfortunately.

Takata air bag recall done finally. And I have a clue as to why the Airbag light is still on, had them do a diagnostic on it.

Not the seat connectors, which is most common. It's complaining about the dash clock connection and the driver side front impact sensor.

Tech thinks it might be the clock one since the pod gauges are hooked into that connector. So I need to trace wires and see if any are tied into the passenger airbag on/off light.

Codes are:

DTC 26 - Passenger side airbag indicator failure
DTC 31 - Right front sub-sensor failure

I believe that the clock is integral to remain in order to keep those codes away on the '06-07' I dont think that was the case for the '04-'05. I know some have taken the clock and shoved it away into the dash when installing the gauge pod. Do you have the clock installed or is it completely removed?

Clock is still installed, tucked under the ATI gauge pod. I think possibly the taps that were used to power the Prosport gauges might be tied into one of the wires that the air bag sensor uses for the passenger seat. Going to be digging into it this weekend and see if I can correct it.

More maintenance work done. And another issue found but caused by the maintenance work just done....

Driver side valve cover was leaking so it got new gaskets. Installation took 2 tries because I'm dumb and followed youtube vids instead of looking at the service manual. I really should know better.

My self-induced mistake was slathering Toyota FIPG over the whole gasket and trying to slap it in there. Pretty dumb on my part.

Of course, this caused one of the corners to pop out when the VC was tightened down.

So, I had to pull the cover off again. Fortunately, the gasket wasn't destroyed and I was able to re-use it after cleaning all the FIPG off everything. Applied fresh FIPG sparingly to the areas on the head mating surface that the service manual called for and then reinstalled the cover, successfully the 2nd time.
