Cool. Who doesn't like good wood? I can't believe I don't know what Cobra with a roof on looks like.

Just like with E-Types, you immediately know the reason why after seeing one.

110% agree. Modern cars are so good it's easy to watch and believe you could do it. But watching historics piloted by modern drivers in anger, it's harder to believe that you could do the same.

See Philip Island Classics for more similar stuff. The bike stuff is awesome, big names from GP, WSBK, MotoA, etc:

That hop.

I love the historic races.

Problem is it's ten times as bad when it goes wrong.

Supposedly a lot of the cars in the races are replicas now.

There's alot of onboards, and they show basically that it NEVER stops going wrong, there's not 'a save', there is nothing but saves.

For example, here's Kenny Brack in Adrian Newey's GT40 in the wet. I mean, at about the 1:00 min mark when he's passing on the straight, next to THE WALL, he sawing at the wheel the whole time:

Mechanical grip is limited, it is what all the racing in this thread has in common, zero or near zero downforce good old fashioned mechanical grip racing. It is what I wish F1 would go back too. Tech packed low drag tubes guided by drivers skilled in managing mechanical grip.

Mechanical grip... (the alignment above was accidental, this I added for emphasis. )

My ideal would be non wing 410" sprint cars (with gearboxes), running on a track like Rossi's ranch. Low mu rewards drivers/riders, high mu rewards crew chiefs/engineers.
non wing sprints +
Rossi's ranch

Just saw Travis' 1st run up Goodwood in the '83. That car is a HOOT!!! It's even got active aero using the wheel fenders and some hood flaps as raising aero. Wow. WOW. Was not expecting that!

You mean you didn't know about it? Or, expected him in a different car?

Right now, just starting timings, TP is the one to beat.

I knew of the car, hadn't followed any or watched any coverage that included mention it was the GL.. which was personally surprising.
