I don't think Val Kilmer could fit into the cockpit anymore.

Why don't they just combine this and the Independence Day sequel? It kind of makes sense to do that...

Nice trailer...until the slowed piano theme song at the end which reminded me of Ghostbusters 2016 *shudders*
Looking forward to seeing it.

Tom Cruise is five years older than the oldest active pilot in the Navy's history.

This movie is at 15 years past the latest point a TG sequel should've been greenlit.

Here's hoping this flames out on the tarmac

I also think they missed an opportunity to re-cast Kilmer as a fat computer nerd, that is the top drone pilot, and calls himself "Gas Man"

If Stallone can still Rambo, Cruise can still fly.
But Gas Man

Me neither. I don't know which one is harder: DCS: F-14 or TG2TSM. Damn missiles everywhere.

Was that a Tomcat in the last scene?

I remember watching Top Gun in the theaters. Girls were squealing every time they had a closeup of Tom Cruise. Ass hole.

Jennifer Connely had to be about 16 years old when that movie came out. Charlie looks like Tom Cruise's grandmother now.

Yes.

My guess on how that works out:

The penultimate action scene ends in Maverick's Super Hornet being shot down.

Everything seems lost in the minutes after until someone asks Cruise how he's going to win the day.

The camera zooms in on Maverick's eyes as he says "there's only one way I know how"

Cue "Danger Zone" over a montage of Cruise breaking into a secure facility, that miraculously has no MPs, and having absolutely zero issue bringing to life his old F-14 (that has been sitting in storage since probably 1994).

Scene changes to a confused tower operator not understanding the unapproved Target on his radar...

"Ghost Rider requesting a fly-by" followed by Maverick buzzing the tower seconds later.

Cue final act of a nearly 60 year old pilot out dueling cutting edge technology in a nearly 50 year old jet.

Edit: I'm only kidding, the sequence at the end of the movie will be even dumber

I don't care what anyone says my movie dick is fully erect. There wasn't even a volleyball scene either.

Right?! I mean, one could write this film off as "dumb", but isn't that really kind of the point? The original wasn't exactly high brow cinema either. Dumb can be entertaining, and this looks stupid awesome.

If they ever remake Wing Commander I want Cruise as Admiral Tolwyn, or as Lt. Christopher Blair's grandfather in some flashback scene

The success of this movie won't be measured in box office dollars, but rather how many new recruits the Navy gets.
