Nice exhaust and great detailing job! We'll try Autosol on my brother's truck after it returns from the installation of the suspension and warn wheels plus the alignment.

100% use the metal polish and the 0000 steel wool. I've used this on exhaust pipes before and it definitely works, and I didn't notice any scratches. Use 'em on my BMW though, never my Subaru

Am I messing up by just hitting it with a pressure washer? Typically use wheel cleaner(Sonax Full Effect) and do a quick scrub with a sacrificial wheel brush. Rinse with pressure washer at 90° angle.

here is what I am up against...

pressure washing really isn't going to help.

I also bought the AWE Tip Tonic, and it smells like metal polish.

I will try the Blue Coral metal polish on the three remaining tips as the Tip Tonic struggles on the heavy soot/crusty areas.

EDIT: the Blue Coral Metal Polish also struggles on the heavy sooty areas inside the tip lip...time for stronger solvents that are chrome friendly

I would try using a steel wood pad (like mentioned from others) mixed with WD40, and finish by using some metal polish to bring out the shine!

I usually use a little bit of rim cleaner on my exhaust a few times every year to keep it clean.
