Is the knock sensor & park neutral sensor connected to the same path somehow?
I have both a knock sensor circuit high & park neutral sensor high.
The engine light comes and goes so these 2 codes are parallel. Do they share a common ground? How could they both share a common issue? It's a version 8 STI.

Nope. Most likely two unrelated problems. They don't even share a connector on the engine harness - they are in two different harnesses back to the ECM. Knock sensor is a single ended wire to ECM, the other wire in the knock sensor plug is for the shield.
The neutral switch gets it's ground from the ECM back to one of the main grounds for the ECM on the engine with many of the other sensors/actuators on the engine. If it were the ground you would have much more than just two codes. You probably have one code stored and the other code is tripping the light. It's not unusual for the neutral switch to fail, I have even seen the neutral and reverse switch get installed in each others holes cause a MIL. The knock sensor could be installed wrong - overtightened (24 Nm, 17.4 ft.lb.)- wire broken - chewed (rodents love to get down there and nibble). You need to either see when the codes occurred (depends on how comprehensive a scan tool you have) or simply clear all codes and then next time the light trips see which one comes up. |

Diagnosis and testing is ALWAYS where you start. Just throwing random parts you think may be faulty will get very expensive. In that case it will always be the very last part/repair you replace/perform before the car is fixed that is the problem.
