I want to install new wheels and tires, but keep the stock brakes, rotors, and suspension (for now). After some research the Enkei RPF1's have come out on top in terms of engineering design, weight and cost. Ideally would like to keep the stock wheel size (18 x 8.5) and tire size (245/40/18) to maintain the suspension geometry of the car.

However, the RPF1's at 18x8.5 have a sort of concave look, something like a 'D' when viewed from the side profile, which I really don't like. The 18x9.5 however have a more convex or dish look, something like a 'C' when viewed from the side profile. The stock tire size can accommodate the 18x9.5 wheel. I prefer this look.

My question then, is how does going from an 18x8.5 to 18x9.5 wheel change the handling and performance characteristics of the car, given that my main intention is to track my WRX. Would the wider wheel affect upgradability to bigger rotors and brakes, as well as suspension? Any advice/thoughts are much appreciated, and I would love to hear from anyone running this type of setup.

Thanks.

go with the 9.5 wide. yes this can or rather will have an effect on handling characteristics but most of the guys running in gridlife street modified class run 9.5s, as well as most in any body of racing that allows a 255-275 wide tire will be running 9.5s. check with what class/league you want to race in to be sure of the rules. but switching to a 9.5 will still allow clearance for brakes, pending which you want to run. if you swapped to sti 6 pot brembos i think it's a small spacer on the front for the 18x9.5+38 rpf1 and i'm about 99% sure the 18x10+38 rpf1 clears the 6 pots. the 4 pots require an 8mm spacer for the 9.5+38 and i think a 3mm spacer for the 10+38.

I'm thinking 15 or 16 inch... leaning towards 16 with perhaps a 225/55 or something like that.

Have found the pics of the car in a couple adds for king raised springs in a few places including primitive racing, but have had no luck finding wheel specs anywhere.
Pics are broken, what year/model vehicle?

Want to run 275/30R18 tires on my 21' WRX without rolling the fenders. Yes, odd but my mind won't be changed if possible. Anyway, can this be accomplished with an 18x9.5 +50et or does the offset need to be a +55? I want to be lowered as well.

The closest setup I've found is a lowered one running 18x9.5 +45 using 265/35R18's without rolling.

Default 2019 WRX Set-ups

Hello - New to the forum and would like to see some details and pics of '19 WRXs with wheel/tire set-ups + offsets as well as lowered suspensions. I am personally planning on buying Yellow Speed Racing Dynamic Pro Sport coils, Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires, and Motegi MR131 Tracklite (offset +40) wheels. I've never bought coils before, but don't think I want to deal with fine tuning dampering, so the Yellow Speeds are non-adjustable.

Any pics, info, help would be appreciated.

So I need a sanity check.

I've got a '21 WRX, stock brakes/suspension.

I've been looking at a set of Enkei TS-V 18x8.5 with a 45mm offset.

Just going to swap the stock dunlop summer tires onto them when winter is over.

From what I can gather I shouldn't run into any clearance issues at all with a setup like this, but thought it was worth double checking to make sure.

I just pre ordered a set of TE37 SAGA SL M-Spec 18x9.5+39 PB with FACE 4; I shouldn’t have any fitment issues right?

Staying with 19s on my 2020 STi. I already put 245/35/19 performance winters on the stock wheels and now I'm looking at 19x9.5 +38 or +40, probably need a roll since I'm lowered on RCE SS1s, but I can't decide on 255/35/19 or 265/30/19. What's the proper fit?

19x9.5 +38 Titan 7 TS5 with 265/30/19 MPS. Have to slightly adjust ride height, camber and align and see if I need a roll. Also center caps back ordered. Def need those.

Curious about fitment of 235/45 17 tires on my '04 WRX. Wheels are 17x7 Prodrive +53. 215 were stock and most run 225, I know. Seems like a stretch but I have the tires from my '20 WRX and don't have a use for em and seems like a cheap way to put new rubber on the '04.

So I'm waiting on some KSport Gravel Rally Spec Coilovers, and I've just lost my third tire in 18 days. The question is: will the above rims and tires safely clear and work on my 100% stock car until the coilovers get in? My calculations indicate they they are just under 1" in diameter from the 235/45 R17 Continental DWS06's on the stock 17" rims.

Secondarily, I am also interested in opinions regarding the best wheel and tire set-up for gravel, dirt, rock, snow, slush and ice driving, as I have yet to order the rims and tires.
I intend on doing so today. All input welcome.

Swift response appreciated- having a ride out here is Survival.

Thank You.

2018 WRX Limited here: stock came with OEM 18x8.5 +55mm. Current set up with stock suspension mr502 16x7 +30mm tires 205/60/16 Michelin CrossClimate 2
No issues at all

Best for gravel dirt are 15's 205/65/15 tires bc theyre dime a dozen for this size wheel its also universally used. Rocks? I'm assuming when ya mention rocks you mean overlanding driving over rocks is not an ideal situation (I'm gonna rule out rock crawling bc wrxs are not known for this altho you probly could if ya really wanted to and that was your goal) unless you're driving at a snails pace and have the right setup, otherwise pointless. Snow, slush you can slap on a set of 3PMSF or dedicated snow rated tires and you should be fine. Ice is a totally different story e.g. rally cars use a specific ice/snow wheel typically a much thinner width like 5 to 5.5" along with studded tires

I kept breaking hubcaps on the stock 16" steelies. Handling is a noticeable improvement with minor change in speedometer. One rim has slight curb rash- please advise on touch up as Subaru does not make paint for rims.

Nice to jump back in these forums about a decade later. Been kickin around getting a new set of wheels on my old garage queen. I know the oem wheels are +53, is there a big apperance difference between the 45 offset and 54? Would be nice to run something slightly lower if I can get away with it...but I don't want to bother with something down in the 30's. It appears from research camber plates and rolling would be pretty much required. Thanks for any help! Looking at either a 17x8 setup or an 18x8/8.5 setup.

year: 2007
model: STI
wheel model: Advan RGIII
wheel size/offset:17x8 45mm. Been emailing with a shop saying that 18x9.5 +40ish will fit just fine but doesn't check out from what I've been reading in here. 18x8 or 8.5 +45 work?
tire brand/model: Continental Extreme Contact Force
tire size: 245/40/17 or 235/40/18
suspension: Ohlins Fixed Perch Normal setting + Jdm Pink Springs. I believe its a 1" lowering all around
alignment: Stock?
fender mods: ideally would like to avoid
spacers: no

Hi all, new to the forum but not new in the Subaru community. Excited to learn from the abundance of knowledge and wisdom on the forum!

year: 2021
model: STI
wheel model: TE37SL Black Edition ii
wheel size/offset: 18x10 +39
tire brand/model: Michelin PS4S/Toyo Proxes Sport
tire size: 275/35/18 OR 255/40/18
suspension: Fortune Auto 500 Coils
alignment: not too aggressive
Fender mods: roll (ideally don't want to pull)
spacers: no

Originally settled on 265/35/18 as most would run on VA chassis, however after checking OEM diameter on 245/40/18 of 25.7" and 25.8" on 245/35/19, I'd love to get as close to that as possible. Hence, considering 275/35/18 (25.6***8221 and 255/40/18 (26").

I've seen a few members on here running same wheel specs & tires that have made it work (e.g. @skeeter281) but I've also seen others say it wouldn't.

Would love input on this matter to help me settle on the tire size for my new summer setup. Thank you!

Even more appreciation if you have photos to show!

I have 255/40-18 on my mostly stock '20. I can't remember for the life of me if the wheels are 18x8 or 8.5 They fit fine with no rubbing but do have a bit of poke that kinda bugs me. I should get some photos on here.
