PLEASE HELP - Cyl. #2 Ignition coil not getting signal after changing spark plugs
Just got done changing spark plugs and coils on my 2010 Outback 2.5L (EJ253 AVLS) and now my #2 ignition coil is not firing (new SUBARU OEM coils too). What are the possible culprits for this fault? I have tried multiple new coils on it and swapped things around to confirm it is not getting signal. Appreciate the help in advance. Thanks.

Sometimes a connector pin will not be captured properly and gets pushed back so it no longer makes contact; check both the plug on wiring loom and on the coil.

I was able to do some more checking and digging around. With the engine running (on 3 cylinders), I was pulling 5.5 - 6hz duty cycle on a working coil from the trigger/signal wire. On the non-working coil plug I was pulling ZERO HZ on duty cycle. But... the trigger/signal wire is getting voltage. So either I have a short somewhere in that wire somewhere going back to the ECU... or the ECU itself is bad.
Any other ideas or possibilities??? |

Did u verify the pins were pushed all the way in? Then ohm the wire from both ends(other I assume comes in at the main engine connector. I’d also bet a pulled pin would be only cause associated with plug change, or broken wire. Both u check by homing out wire

Both of these were checked -- I also back-probed from other locations on that circuit other than at the coil plug. I did back-probe check the ECU signal wire for #2 cyl and it came back with 000 hz duty cycle. Starting to look more and more like the ECU is toast. Any other suggestions?
