Default Remove Light Scratch 2020 WRX

Hi, I just got my new 2020 WRX and i was cleaning some fingerprints off the window panel with my microfiber cloth and i guess there was a rock. How do i get rid of these scratches? They are light and dont catch a finger nail.

DA polisher with a black or white foam pad, and a finishing polish.

What would you recommend for the polish?

https://www.detailedimage.com/Menzer...P217/32-oz-S1/ this would be my choice, with a black foam pad, but anything similar should do the job. ive used it on scratched up tail lights and have them turn out perfect. plastic door pillars should finish out well with it. bet you can find some youtube vids of people fixing the same issues.

If you're trying to remove scratches from the window frame like in the pictures linked, I do not recommend a DA polisher. The black on the window frames are a matte black tape, if you polish you will make it worse by making it shinier, even damage the tape. Also many polishes will leave staining.

A better solution is to use a microfiber towel and lightly spread/work in some polish and wipe off. Choose a polish that is more of a gel so it won't stain. If it still remains you can try some sort of dressing to help hide like CARPRO PERL diluted 3:1.

With the matte black tape there's not much you can do if it gets scratched besides replace/try to hide.

What non aggressive polish would you recommend?

not sure that can be "polished" thats the trim piece over the frame, cant really "polish it" and you will just thin it out and scratches will still be there, its a flat black and they are very thin coating and they fade and chip really really easily. Options would be to remove them and paint them gloss black a couple of coats and then a couple coats of clear....it will last longer and look better and you can wet sand scratches out if need be after. Or remove them and wrap them in 3M gloss black.

well if its "tape" as some are saying, then its permanently damaged and has to be redone.

It is a tape/vinyl wrap material, you can see the seems both on the outside easily where there's overlap and on the inside of the frame where it ends and is the same color as your paint. If you pull it off your frame is actually the same as your body color underneath.

I won't recommend a polish for it as I'm not confident it will work at all. A dressing or trim coating may help hide though.

If that's not a vinyl tape its an anthracite black plastic trim piece scratches like that are basically a replacement required.

Only chance you have to fix it is to heat it with a heat gun may blend the scratches in

If it is vinyl tape then replacement is all you can do period

For scratches that light and in a more narrow area I would recommend a finishing polish with a microfiber towel and your finger
