Default '15 WRX built motor "Sleepy"

2015 WRX - liking to keep her looking sleepy, so that's where the name came from. haha. Definitely not hear to brag - I've seen how fast y'alls cars are. Just sharing.

Ringland failure last December at about 64k. Was on TBE, CAI, TGV, and wouldn't say the car was abused as far as driving. I'd consider myself a responsible/respectful driver. Guess I just got luck of the draw. Car was paid off and rather than dump it, I had a new shortblock built. I've loved WRX's since wanting a bugeye back in 2001, but this is my first one - and I've learned the poisonous love that they are.

Shortblock was done by Casey at Herbert Performance out here in Reno and Clinton at Shifted Performance did the motor build and tune. Both shops were great to work with and I'm glad to call both guys friends, now. Honest and knowledgable folks at both establishments.

Went with middle-tier Manley forged components for the build, and GCS Ti springs. Went with tuner's recommendation on the build as far as all of pieces - motor mounts, PSB, PSM, AOS, clutch, etc, added a PW Verticooler, and decided to put a cherry on top by adding 18x9.5 RPF1's with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
I'm a little over 3100 miles on the new motor and we went to e85/flex about 200mi ago.

Car made about 390whp with 400tq at 4600' elevation, so I guess that's around 400whp at sea level(?).
I'm looking at sending the turbo to SoCal Porting in a couple months, but overall I'm happy with the power the car is making. Next bits will be BBK (CTSV swap likely), different catback, and some more things like strut tower brace (Perrin one on the way) and swaybars/end links.

Looking good! Are you happy with that power level? What's next for the car?

I am. 400 wasn't necessarily my end goal when this all started, but when it seemed like about where we'd land I was happy with it. It drives great and I'm definitely happy with the car overall. I want to do some more bits, but they're mostly related to handling. Was looking at the Whiteline swaybar/endlink kit for later this year. Perrin strut tower brace is coming, once they're back in stock through the distro tuner uses. I really want to do the CTSV brake swap, too. We'll see how many of these I can pull off over the next year...

I've been researching the SoCal porting best option for the stock turbo and that seems like about the right thing for me. I'll likely do that in late August / early September, as that's right after annual bonus and I'm not going to be "responsible" with all of it. haha.

I don't want to make much more power because then I think I'll have to start swapping more drivetrain parts, plus I'm not trying to win any races - that being said, I've definitely surprised a few cars around town...

I have the CTS-V brake swap on my car and one of the best mods I've done. I got a set of the yellow calipers.. DO IT!! Stop thinking about it lol.

Also why didn't you do get a FMIC? Any plans on going with BRZ intake manifold and 1 piece TGV deletes?

Love the build... any thoughts on a turbo upgrade?

Also, that graph doesnt cross at 5252, do you have another that does?

I didn't go with the FMIC because I was looking to keep the more stock look. There is part of me that wishes I had gotten it, but it's too late now.

1pc TGV deletes - I haven't given consideration to that one. Honestly, not even sure if there is one for the FA? I haven't looked.

BRZ manifold - I've looked at it, for sure. Currently, more interested in the KillerB holy header. My shortblock builder is leaning in on hard me to get it, too. LOL. I keep telling him 'quit spending my money.'

Turbo - I am planning on the V3 from SoCal Porting.

Graph - bottom axis is time, so that's why they cross where they cross on the physical graph.

got a JNA front lip a couple months ago after talking with multiple folks. The fitment is really good, in my opinion.

LOL. it's the way the printout comes. The pull was about 10 seconds in duration. The dyno is about 4 months old and they have the newest software.
I don't know much about the dyno stuff so I don't have a better explanation for you. I checked with the shop to see if I could get you a better answer and that was their response, as well.

Is there something in particular you're looking for?
