Anybody know any tips for getting the bottom two bolts (one on each side) holding the engine to the transmission out? They are blocked by the half-shafts and I really don't want to have to pull them too, although it's looking more and more likely. The FSM doesn't say you have to, but there's almost no way to even get a socket on it, much less enough leverage to move it. Anyway, I'm going to keep trying tomorrow (Saturday) on post if anyone is interested in watching me flail about uselessly.

^^This is what I did to get them off. I think I put them back in using a 3/8 socket wrench that does 5* or less with a cheater bar. A ratchet wrench *might* get in there.

Was easier to deal with after the axles are out. Mine are aftermarket so they come out without dropping suspension so it made that way easier.

Welcome back, Drewski!

I hear ya, that's pretty cool you're deleting the tgvs yourself. I just went with zerolift labs. I got my heads on and pretty much everything else but I'm waiting on some new lifters cause my valve clearances were out of spec. Otherwise im pretty sure i'd have it back in the car by now.

Well I've done all my pnp on this one my self the vf39 is pnp'd as well wish I had more time I would have done every aspect I wanted to but have to work with a realistic time frame, tgv deletes are one of the simplest mods if you have the tools, I'm just lucky having access to so much stuff from work

Thanks for the offer, I just got tied up and didn't make it out. I have so much I want to do though, this weekend I'll definitely be there Saturday.

True story, I managed to break the one on the passenger side loose, but getting the socket to turn instead of bending at the u-joint was frustratingly exhausting. It is *technically* possible, the worst kind of possible.

Welcome back, Drewski!
Thanks man, it's actually good to be back. Fun course (when we aren't doing math) and more time to work on the subie. I wound up doing exactly what you said, minus the removing the axles, if I have to mess with suspension, I'm not bothering, lol. I did manage to get my little ratcheting wrench on it, but I'm trying to pull it up against all the exposed bolts and scratched my arm up pretty good. It's in such a weird spot to get leverage on.

@Sammythebugeye, I know a guy who had a bit of experience in lowering a subie, but he got out of the game, lol.

(I'm excited because Iowa events wouldn't start for another 3 months)

Anyone going to go? The fiancée and I are going to go make a weekend of it.
