Sweet write up.
I've had the steering wheel in my 07 XT for about 6 months now and have been waiting for someone w/ electrical wiring knowledge to do a write up like this. Kudos. |

What's missing for me from the GRB stock wheel is the contrasting stitching and perforated leather. Not that the GRB looks bad in older years.

the only thing that kind of urks me a tad, is the shade of leather on the 08 is a little lighter than my 05 wheel. |

Empty plug on roll connector?
Great right up, I am currently working on this conversion. I have one question though, does anyone know were to get a harness that will acually plug into the unused plug on the roll connector? I know it is not manditory, I am just super anal about my wiring, needs to be stock as possible. Thanks in advance.

I actually found some extra wire harnesses that I had lying around from my car audio/alarm days. They didn't "snap" in like the factory plug did, but was snug enough to where it shouldn't come out. |

are you planning on putting some of that carbon wrap around the steering wheels buttons? I think that would tie it all together

So you did the swap to gain Audio controls only? They're both 3-spoke wheels aren't they? I'll be the first to admit that I'd love to have wheel-mounted audio controls.

I made a mistake and I ordered the 07 one thinking I'll get the buttons and will be plug and play... wrong.... Now I have 2 choices: - either stay with the 07 one and retrofit the buttons housings thru cutting, polishing... - or either sell the 07 one, get the 08 one and also get the airbag cover for 08... if I'll get 600 I'll sell it... we'll see... Thx guys... |

Any suggestions for where to get the switches and boards for the wheels, other than the usual channels?
I'd probably do this using a DAMD wheel, so I'd just need the steering wheel controls themselves and the associated boards. Anybody know how much those are from a dealer? Might not be that much... |
