Default 2017 WRX Exhaust Recommendations?

So recently I have installed my cobb catted resonated downpipe and have been loving it so far.. Only issue is that my muffler delete is now incredibly loud and has terrible drone. I was looking at the r400 and am worried that it won't be loud enough. Is there any thing that is just a little bit quieter than muffler deletes? Preferably a dual exit.

Depends on your ears. I have my Cobb resonated j-pipe connected to a r400 and it's pretty droney past 3K rpm.

Maybe try finding The SPT midpipe. I too run muffler deletes with a catted j pipe and it’s probably my favorite setup I’ve had. The resonator on the spt mid really brings the drone and raspiness down. And it’s not as loud as I was expecting it to be.

You could just slap your stock axlebacks on to save you money as, pretty much any quiet catback isn’t gonna be any louder. If you’re dead set on it than the invidia q300, awe touring, grimmspeed catback, and perrin dual tubes are revered as the quietest often too quiet catbacks with little to no drone. I’d probably avoid the r400 for sure as everyone knocks it for having drone. I’d suggest at least try getting a resonator installed before pulling the trigger on a catback

Except I don’t want something quiet. I want something just quieter than muffler deletes

This video with decibel readings says the Remark cat back is actually a little more tame than the usual axleback muffler delete. Might be worth a look.

Q300 for 3" flow and none of the noise

2.5" STI midpipe with resonator is another option

i agree. if you want something just slightly less loud than straight muffler deletes, the nameless catback with 4inch mufflers or even stock midpipe and just nameless axleback with 4inch mufflers is probably you're best move

If you want loud, there will most likely be an accompanying drone. I have the Cobb catted and resonated J-Pipe and the Invidia Q300 cat-back. It's loud when you're aggressively accelerating (and gives you the satisfying exhaust pops) but there's no drone, and it's civil enough for a residential neighborhood. Sound clips are all over the internet for that one.

Agreed. Q300 TBE is still quite loud, R400 will be plenty loud with plenty of drone.

I find the R400 cat back just right on volume. A bit of drone at 3000rpm but not ridiculous.
I can see volume increase by adding a j pipe but does the drone really bump up that much? Why? Must be sound frequency change i guess.

Check out a few comparison youtube videos. I really like the nameless and nvidia exhaust.

Just installed this setup (cobb cat res dp to r400) and honestly i think the drone got better. Yes its much louder, yes it drones around 3k, however I find that the note from the droning is much less obnoxious and head hurting than with just an r400. Went cruising for a few hours on it and found myself enjoying it much more even though volume wise it is louder, also strangely enough it seemed easier to talk to my passenger around 3k because the note of the drone doesnt reverb in your head as much. I can try to upload some sound clips this weekend, but i think if ur okay with the level of drone without a downpipe and are okay with a pretty decent volume increase then go for it (I personally think it sounds absolutely incredible)

I have the Invidia R400 catback with resonators, and it really purrs more than anything. Doesn't wake the neighbors. Cold start is nice and aggressive and then it actually idles quieter than the stock exhaust. Youtube videos are nice, but everyone's audio is different and it's near impossible to get a really great sound reproduction. What others are saying is right, No resonator and j-pipe make it a lot louder and more aggressive but still tame compared to a few other brands out there. I come from a line of Honda's so I have internal drone in my bones and the R400 doesn't drone to my ears at all. Best way to hear it is go to a meet and listen to people who have the gear. Good luck!

I would go with the Q300.
