If you know how to use a screwdriver you can install it yourself. You also get the added bonus of getting to know your car

Yea the SUS is nice. Ive had it on my STi for almost 400 miles and still no CEL(crossing fingers). From what Ive heard after 500 miles people usually start getting the CEL.

yeah, i did the install myself. only took 20 mins or so. i think there are some gains...but it seems like there is a major bottleneck now. i think the exhaust is limiting the power...hope what im feeling is not the car pulling timing and boost. the exhaust is on its way, so i guess well see...

Your exhaust could be your limiting factor now; but I would start with a new downpipe next. BTW I am not very mechanically inclined; but I would think that putting on a SUS with nothing else would tend to make your fuel-air mix run too lean. Anyone else able to say wether or not that would be true?

I think the early on SUS intakes for the WRX were not made correctly and had a MAF tube that wasn't the right size. That would cause the car to run lean and people would get the too lean CEL. Like the APS intake. I think they have since corrected that. It runs lean because with a wrong sized tube the MAF will report an incorrect value as to the actual airflow, but with a good intake that shouldn't be a problem.

Any short ram intake will give you lots of whooshing noise.

Does anyone know if they fixed the issue on the SuS intake. I really wanted one but didnt want the associated problems. I love the SuS filter.. I had one on my last car too.

I picked up the Perrin short ram. The pssssssh is quite loud. I was suprised. I also put on a TurboXS RFL TI exhaust. All I can say is wow. Quiet if you stay low on the rpms but very noticable when stepping on it.
