Default Shiv will test STi @ Willow Springs in 2 wks.

That's right. Shiv will be testing the USDM STi at Willow Springs raceway in two weeks time. I just saw this on Evolutionm.net.
Shiv mentioned this on his third post in that thread.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthr...threadid=16671

Sorry Shiv, I had to beat you to it. Can you give us more details like who else will be testing the car, etc. This is probably the most interesting piece of STi news in the last month.

Or, the people who already know how it is going to do can post now! (Yes, they are out there.)

Lets hope SOA doesn't pull the ringer deal on us like Mitsu did for the Evo. That is very depressing...I have faith in Subaru, though, so I'm not worried....that extra .5l is there for a reason!

Can Shiv drive?

I mean really drive? Not saying he can't, but the impression of Sheehan would be more appropriate IMO....

I don't mean can he launch a car, I mean can he drive. i.e. shift weight properly, double clutch - heel toe downshifts, etc.

Personally I'm not afraid of riding in a very fast car around a race track as long as there is a good driver behind the wheel. I'm scared as hell to get into a car with a person who can't drive and go to the supermarket.

anyway, look forward to the review.

They don't need to, the STi makes enough power/torque stock.

Maybe they'll pull a dodge and the STi will actually put about 310 to the wheels.

Well, so does the JDM Evo, but that didn't help Mitsu when they had to meet final emissions testing (which seems to be a good guess considering the last minute delays). Looks like they had to put a different cam in...resulting in across the board power loss but slightly better emissions.

AVCS and the extra .5l will work wonders here. So I second the motion to pull a "Dodge." SOA may as well make the most of this.

Shiv,

Are you going to have a chance to dyno it at your place? This would be an interesting comparision since you already have dynoed the EVO, and other cars.

In any case, let us know what happens.

Yes, Shiv's a pretty good driver. Anyone that's had him tune their car and then take it out on the road to make sure everything's cool should know what I'm talkin about

So, how will the results be posted? Will this be for a magazine article or will it be so Subaru can say "see! Even Shiv liked it more than the Evo!".

Looking forward to a true first hand driving impression/comparison of the USDM STi and the USDM Evo without having to read between the lines. I will trust Shiv to give us his honest assessment. He has been impressed with the EVO with possibly the exception of the lower than expected dyno numbers. In terms of drivability and handling he indicates it will be hard to surpass. Come on STi!
