There's no way it has the FPC.
I was talking to Ford Performance guys at Carlisle this year as they had a new AluminatorXS 5.2 CPC motor in a Factory Five Daytona car. Said that Ford wanted to keep the FPC "special" for the GT350... Meh. |

Also, the main bearings wouldn't like the additional load.

If it's not a FPC wouldn't they use a 5.0 and not a 5.2? Companies like Saleen, Steeda, and Roush are already making 700+hp with a Kenne Bell on a 5.0.
Also I thought Ford was moving away from the Shelby name? The top car was suppose to loose the Shelby nameplate and possibly go back to the Cobra name. |

$helby Cobra GT 500 KR
or maybe Ford just wants to keep the Cobra name associated with the Cobra Jet. |

Iirc part of the long time feud between Ford and Shelby they finally came to an agreement. Iirc part of the settlement was that Ford had to pay Shelby to use their name for so many years. That time period is about up and Ford was not going to renew that contract so they could/would no longer use the GT350/GT500 Shelby name. Rumor was they were going back to the Cobra,Boss, or Mach 1 name.
As far as the engine if they were going to build a specific engine for this they could easily lower compression ratio and forge the internals. To my knowledge Saleen is suppose to warranty their cars. To my knowledge they do not do any internal engine changes. |

Because they already have the 5.2L cross-plane engine developed: http://performance.ford.com/enthusia...te-engine.html

A DCT that can handle all that horsepower and torque is going to be very expensive. I would be surprised it there's any truth to that as it will probably end up with the typical beefed up Tremec TR-6060 manual.

Internals are already forged. The compression is an issue as will be the extra front end weight. The GT350 has a remarkably balanced feel. Going to be hard to add a Turbo or supercharger set up and keep that.

The 5.2 heads are better than the 5.0 heads, but you need the larger bore of the 5.2 block to unshroud the valves on the 5.2 heads.
I have heard the same regarding the Shelby name. Everyone keeps referring to the next Halo Car as a GT500, when from what I have been told it will be a Cobra minus the Shelby name. Ford is big on anniversary dates. 2018 will be the 25th anniversary of the 1993 Cobra, which is pretty much when the Pony Car started to get some balls again. |

If the next Gt500 cannot be named "Shelby" then the current GT350s could be the last Mustangs to carry the Shelby name and the 2012-2014 GT500s the last to be seen by him before production. Both an end of an era and potential collectors items.

Not necessarily. Shelby American can still produce their own model Mustang like they do now. |

Super Snakes sell for more then a GT500. Its hard to say when it comes to aftermarket stuff. The other factor is that Shelby is dead. |

Yeah, I think in general the horsepower wars are a good thing for the consumer; but beginning with the Hellcat (or arguably the '13-14 GT500), things are getting stupid now. At this rate, one of the big three are gonna do a 1000hp muscle car within 5-10 years. The hp wars have been great for the GT/SS/RT/SRT level vehicles. But the special edition/higher trim models are starting to be a bit bat****, not to mention dangerous.

Why would they kill the 350? I don't see that happening.

Well, with my local dealer slapping a $20K market adjustment on top of MSRP, color me shocked there's leftovers!
