It's been a while and not too many large things have happened. Still sitting waiting for the fenders to get rolled, but I did get the new wheels and tires mounted for the rolling to be figured out properly. I'd love for it to have been painted by now but sometimes things don't go as planned!

In other news, I acquired some 05 sti taillights! I also found a sweet deal on here for a t3 rotated turbo kit, so I hopped on it. Sometimes, plans also change. I'm hoping to have a JDM EJ205 and the foundation for my 2.5 and big turbo in place by the end of July. Start up right around then as well!

I'm going with a tiny S257SXE with a .63 t3 hotside and some id1050xs to scoot around on e85 with while I build the 2.5 over winter. I'm not in a rush and would like to have my car done the right way, instead of cutting corners to get it done soon.

Tire, wheel, and fitment pics:

Well, it has been 3 months since my last update but I've got a ton of good news and goodies, as well as some pics to post! This update should be quite large, so please bear with me.

So good news is, I've finished my engine bay (brake lines, deleting various things, etc), obtained a JDM EJ205, swapped most of the parts necessary to put it into my car, and my car is finally going through body work and finishing touches! I'm excited to say that my car SHOULD be running by the end of this month, if not the first week of September.

More details on the JDM EJ205:

I know it's from a forester, due to the coolant outlet tube assembly. I also know it's from an auto due to no timing belt guides. There is varying info on what does or doesn't need to be swapped on these, so I made sure to highlight what I did or didn't swap and will list it here for those who may need the info in the future.

Items swapped:
Crankshaft Position Sensor (JDM is orange, USDM is black)
Camshaft Position Sensor (JDM is orange, USDM is black)
Crank Sprocket (with the woodruff key, not the pulley for the accessories)
Intake Camshaft Gear
Knock Sensor (Different wiring compared to JDM I believe)
Cosworth Timing Belt Guide
All 3 Timing Guides at the Cam Gears
JDM Compressor (Weird angles on the lines)
JDM Power Steering Pump (I believe it's not usable with our harness, I removed it to be safe so I cannot verify this)

Doing the Intake Cam Gear, to my knowledge, requires removing the tensioner so this has been kicking my ass. I bought a new tensioner just to be safe, but I've never done a timing belt job so the driver cam gears are difficult to line up by myself without any prior experience. That'll be fixed this coming week so no worries.

Moving along, I've happened upon some ATS 4 piston calipers and a 2.5i intake manifold, so I've sanded them down along with my rear calipers and will be painting them all Yas Marina Blue, another BMW color that looks beautiful and will pop in my engine bay and behind my wheels.

I will now include a list of items I have, and what I'll be needing to finish my build.

Items Obtained:
Chase Bays Power Steering Kit

Quick question did you ever get the chase bays powersteering kit to work with your setup? I seen you have the same steering rack as me and the ports for the fittings are way up on the racks input shaft.

Chase bays shows an sti rack or something on the website with the fittings right on the bottom of the rack, super easy. Early wrx rack, not so much. They said I could trim some of the subframe to make it work but when I looked the steering rack mount is right where I would need to trim. Waiting to hear back from chase bays again, just figured I would see if you tried to install yet.

I actually attempted to make this work over the weekend to no avail. Even with my engine out and my trans jacked up, I can't properly get a wrench on the rear fitting for what I believe is the low pressure line. Also, the fittings they gave me aren't the correct size for the wrx rack, so I'm guessing they made the kit for the sti racks.

I decided to just purchase an 05 sti rack for a steal off of ebay, less mounting points but it'll work with my subframe and I can install the kit with the rack out of the car. Disappointing, but that's life with custom installations I guess.

Yeah my car is fully gutted, no motor, trans, suspension or anything. I could easily drop the rack to tighten the fittings up in place but I don't think that the 45 degree fittings will physically fit. The old hardlines are pretty straight for almost 4" and then do a 90 degree bend.

Good call on picking up the 05 sti rack, everything will fit nice. I'm contemplating picking up a 2015 sti rack and trying to make the chasebays kit work with that. I wanted to try the quicker rack, maybe this is my excuse to do it.

The fittings look like they'll fit in the space if you drop the rack and then put it back up but it'd be a tight fit. The problem is the fittings being a -6 and -8 which are clearly too big. Doing an sti rack seems to be the best idea. 2015 would be perfect for the 13:1, but I'm still happy with the 15:1 of the 2005 sti. Gonna throw the sti solid linkage in too to complete it!

Were you try the two big lines on the rack or the smaller lines? The big lines are the high and low and the smaller lines go to each side of the rack or something I would have to look. I got the high pressure side fitting they sent to fit the rack, but the cradle and rack are in the way of getting the hose/6an tightened to that fitting. The low pressure side looked tighter so I didn't even try the fitting they sent for that.

I might contact chase bays and see if they can make a hose with straight AN fitting connections. Would be benicficial for them to have the right parts and me not to have to buy a rack since mine works fine.

By the way your build is really taking shape man! Can't wait to see more. I don't know if I missed it but what size are the new tires? How do you like the fitment so far?

Im working with the big lines, just tracing them from the pumps to the rack itself under the car. I believe the front line is the high pressure which was easy to get off and looks like it'll fit correctly. The rear line is the tight fit and its a bitch to get to. I have their entire kit with the reservoir so ill definitely need the sti rack. Otherwise the fittings on there look like -8 for me when they should be -6 for the wrx rack.

You should contact them, im not too worried since I can mock this all up on a workbench with the new rack but for you it's a bit more complicated.

Thanks man, the final touches are happening and once I finish the rack and lines i can drop my engine in once and for all. Got more pics coming in about an hour once im back at the shop. The tires are 255/40/17 federal ss595 and they fit well on my 17x9 et42 rota titans. I've gotta toss my fortune auto 500s on for final fitment still but these titans clear cadillac ats brembos perfectly

Got some images coming in for your viewing pleasure:

My 2.5i Longrunner Mani painted B68 Yas Marina Blue. Such a beautiful color in person and pictures don't do it justice.

Torque solution rails, radium rail adapters, FIC 1000cc injectors. Standard stuff here.

Got my cam gear, crank sprocket, and timing belt tensioner swapped in. Timing marks all line up properly and she makes compression! Cobb lightweight pulley added on for more weight reduction bro.

Swapping this mount out without a lift was a pain in the back. Literally! I'm still sore from Saturday!

Bought cadillac brembos from a member on here, they turned out to be XTS brembos which are much much bigger than the ATS brembos. Finally got the right calipers in and they fit beautifully! No extra spacers, just the spacer from the kit. All 4 calipers will be painted to match my intake manifold!

Finally, my engine bay with the brake lines, clutch line, and pretty much everything done. The harness is even in the bay for this pic, so the amount of decluttering is very satisfying. No ABS, manual brakes, all stainless lines. Just waiting on that sti rack to finish off the P/S lines!

Looking good!!!! I looked into those titans, good looking wheel and light weight. Looking forward to your review on the Cadillac calipers too. They look sleek.

I wanted to throw out there that I looked at some 04-07 sti racks on eBay and some appear to be the same exact powersteering hose locations as the early wrx. So not all the sti’s even have the lower ports, make sure yours new one is! I’m gonna drop my wrx rack since it’s only 4 bolts for me (fully stripped car) and use the chase bays 45 degree fittings at any angle possible to see if it will fit, the hose is very plyable so if I can get them in I should be able to route the house still. Won’t be able to loosen or tighten fittings with the rack mounted in the car but if it works I will let it ride. Some red thread locker on the rack fittings and see what happens.

On another note, check the inside of those torque solution fuel rails. Mine were caked with a cnc oil/dirty crap mixture. If yours are dirty too you don’t want that crap going right into the injectors.

Thanks man! Yeah they're nice and lightweight, perfect for what I want to do with my car. I'll have a review of them once I can get everything together bahaha.

02-04 WRX and 04 STi are all the same rack fitting position, so if you found one with the same fitting placement it was for an 04 sti. 05-07 sti and 06-07 wrx use the same fitting placement. I checked to be safe and the 05 sti was as he claimed, proper fitment and such. I was gonna say, drop the rack and throw some threadlock on. You shouldn't have to screw with them anymore than that once they're installed.

I did check the inside of my rails to be safe, they're clean and free of debris. I check everything to make sure nothing was left behind from machining or anything like that. Thank you for making sure, though!

Ok thanks, 05-07 sti rack. I knew something was weird and it's ebay so it said 04-07 or something on the listing making it hard to tell what was up lol.

Just figured I would mention the rails, it really surprised me to see dirt/oil inside of it. I think the worker forgot to rinse them out or something after the cnc work, probably a one time mistake.

Well I figured for this update my car would be running but sadly it isn't the case, but I'm still rolling with the punches. I've made a bit of progress, and it should be running within a week or 2 but won't be able to move sadly. My sti rack ended up snapping when I was putting the low pressure fitting in, and I don't think jb welding that piece back onto the rack with threads in it is safe at this point. I'll just purchase another one! Lmao.

I ended up getting my turbo in, and she is beautiful. I assembled the fuel lines and have them laid out for my return and fuel filter, so that'll be a drop in affair. Got my throttle body spacer from KSTech and it fits perfectly as well. I opted to use Ultra Copper as gasket for both sides since I've seen it used with good results on high power builds. We also got the alternator fitted, and did some grinding to make it clear the rotated manifold. Also ended up slotting the mounting bolts for the manifold out a bit to make it fit perfectly.

At this point I'm just waiting on some miscellaneous stuff, like studs for the uppipe, fuel filter, iacv bolts, piping, front o2, a belt and oil fittings to finish it off. I need to bleed the clutch system and then slap the engine in and start her up! I'll grab video of course when it happens.

Onward to some pics!

Borg Warner S363SXE w/ 68mm turbine wheel. AGP .63 T3 Turbine Housing built by Work Turbochargers. This thing is sexy man.

Painted calipers! I love this color so much. I'll probably grab some Black brembo decals to put on as well.

Just some pics of the lines fitted up, with the manifold, throttle body, fpr, and such.

Well, it's been almost a year since I last posted. Long story short, I dealt with a bunch of hurdles and let my brother take his time doing my calipers, body work, and paint correctly. I'm happy to inform anyone interested that my paint is successfully finished, my 6 speed swap is done, my engine is in, my car is running, and I'm the happiest I've been in years.

I don't have too many pictures, just kinda did everything on the downlow and got her up and running with some instagram footage to share and maybe a couple pics.

Pics of paint finished, plus the 3m undercoating that we did the entire underside in. Turned out beautifully id say!

So I found a steal of a deal on Ebay for a 2004 sti 6 speed swap with hubs, driveshaft, axles, shifter, trans and rear subframe, all for a good price. So I went to Ohio and picked it up from Grizzly Garage for even cheaper than listed! Trans and rear subframe had way less rust so I used those, passenger rear hub needed a new wheel bearing, and the lateral links were bent so I replaced those with Truhart adjustable links and Trailing Arms. Idk if the seller knew it had an S202 oem shift knob on it, but I'm happy it's in great condition and a bugeye piece!!

Just a pic of the 6 speed being yanked into place. Plenty of issues here, first being we didn't have a tranny jack so we took my old wheels, stacked them, placed covers to prevent damage, lifted the 6 speed into place on the wheels and lowered the car onto it. The ratchet straps were used to pull the 6 speed forward onto the subframe and everything went well! Or, we wished. One of the trans subframe nuts in the body stripped out, so we had to cut into the frame, place a nut in and screw the bolt in that way. Access hole is well hidden and accessible so no worries there. Also pictured is my new 07 sti rack, whiteline rack bushings installed, chase bays power steering kit installed, jdm sti alumi control arms, etc!

Then we dealt with the Torque Solution solid engine and trans mounts, there's no movement so lining everything up perfectly took some effort. We ended up destroying the stud plate at the front of the trans that holds the front bushings to the subframe, oops! Had spares from my old trans so we fixed that, then the rear nuts stripped on the trans subframe. A new nut fixed that! With that all done, I put all new Torque Solution bushings, their solid U-Joint, and their short shifter in. Shifting feels beautiful! Side note: For my r180, I opted to use bolts to secure the r180 to the rear subframe instead of the stud and nut combo. Much easier to work with!

Fortune Auto 500 coils were installed, adjusted to what we felt would be good, Whiteline Front swaybars and adjustable endlinks went on well. Then we come to the rear sway bar and endlinks.... and we hit a few snags. First, I ordered this sway bar kit for my 02 wrx. I have the rear end of an 04 sti now... so yeah the endlinks won't work. We also learned after an hour of trying to stuff this stupid sway bar mount bushing into the mount that the 02 WRX has it's own sway mount design, and 03+ all have new designs. I order the new sway mounts, clamps, and bolts, plus some BuiltEJ rear Spherical Endlinks. Wouldn't ya know, the rear sway mount bolts to the body snap in the hole! We welded the mounts to the body and said have a nice day, solid as can be!

After this, I acquired some rear sti brembos that I had helicoiled to fix the bolts then my brother stripped and painted them. Slapped em back together, replaced the crossover o-rings and one of the bad seals while in there, and they look beautiful. Have some pics of front's and rears mounted and assembled!

Have some pics of the end product of all new suspension and a not finished alignment! These brakes look excellent behind these wheels. Note: I have since added black brembo decals to the calipers!

After that was getting the engine in the car and laying out wiring and figuring out how I'm going to run everything. I got a new Uppipe since the custom one I bought was garbage, credit to berzerksti for the sick Tigwerks V-Band 2bolt uppipe he had laying around!

Figured out most of the routing of wiring, hoses, etc.

This is with the downpipe welded up, got a Push-lok fitting kit for my 4port MAC Valve, wastegate, and BOV. Such a good kit to have, easy to install and well made. IAG AOS installed in a custom spot with custom hose routing! Ended up wrapping my downpipe and can touch it while it's running and it's barely hot lmfao. Custom throttle cable mount off of the EGR Block-Off Plate, lines and wiring cleaned up and she looks clean. IAT wiring is just chilling with the sensor since piping isn't done. Set up a vacuum block for accessories since it's cleaner and easier to find leaks I feel.

How about a video of not the first start, but a second start? Wanted to make sure most leaks were fixed and she was slightly warm for revs. This is without the downpipe attached.

INSTAGRAM LINK BOIS

How about a video of the full exhaust being finished and me getting scared of hearing my own exhaust for the first time? First, it's loud, and second it sounds so mean.

IM SCARED MOM COME PICK ME UP

So yeah, we need to finish intercooler piping, wetsand and buff everything, then fully reassemble the exterior. Interior is mostly done, so the end goal is in sight. Sorry for being gone for so long, but the fun is just beginning. Stick around.

I'll be swapping over to a rotated setup w/ the Borg Warner S369SX-E over the summer, grabbing the full sti swap, and then building the engine/heads over the winter while having it painted.

My "goal" is 600whp, which won't be difficult at all with the planned setup but I'm sure I'll encounter some headaches during the build. I am getting a killer deal on my turbo and piping setup, plus I love huge turbos. Lag is a nonfactor to me. I have an FP Green on my 2L and I get around town and pass people just fine now, with a 2.5 I'll have a good bottom end bump and that will be more than enough. I will be doing some track days, and some drag racing. I don't expect much in the way of 1/4 mile times with the short ratio of a JDM 6 speed but I'm not chasing times, I just want to have fun!

Things should get interesting very soon, stay tuned for next week!

I appreciate that brother. I've got a radium dual pump hanger with 2 450s, all my -8an feed and -6an return line coming this week so maybe I'll get some pics of that to bump the thread up hehe.

The paint turned out nice!

Looking good, keep it up. I have the radium double 450 setup for my bugeye too, cant wait to find some time to work on it. This is some good motivation.

I haven't posted in a while, but things have been going well other than the JDM engine having a slight bit of rod knock even with proper oil pressure, guessing my abuse really tore up those 20+ year old bearings hahahaha. Enjoyed driving the car last season, and some of this season, not too bummed since the built engines almost ready for assembly! PS: She handled 26-28psi quite regularly on e50-e70!

I got some part updates because I'm a lazy butt and never updated this thread. We threw in a Radium Dual Pump Hanger with twin 485s, wiring went well and I left one relay ungrounded/taped up so the 2nd pump doesn't kick on, since I believe that's overkill with the stock JDM 205. -8an Feed and -6an Return are done with Parker Pushlok hose running in the factory location so they run under my rear seat, next to the driver seat, and up through the firewall. I changed over to an Aeromotive A1000 -8 regulator, threw in a Lowdoller Motorsports fuel pressure sensor, and got that wired up to the next surprise.

Over winter I acquired a Plug and Play Link G4X ECU with expansion looms for my car! Live tuning and the flexibility of this ecu have made me fall in love and I will never go back to the OEM ECU lol. Wired up a Continental Flex Fuel Sensor, the Lowdoller Fuel Pressure Sensor, and the Lowdoller 5 BAR MAP Sensor and after much self inflicted pain, they worked well! Even tested the Fuel Pressure failsafe and my car turned itself off within 5 seconds of starting every single time when seeing low fuel pressure. During all this, I also had a DCCDPro Spiider DCCD Controller delivered and got that wired up beautifully, with left foot braking!

Another over winter addition is my PST Carbon Fiber Driveshaft. It's a beautiful piece and fits fairly well, I did have to do some clearancing on my undercarriage in one spot for the parking brake cables rubbing on the shaft. Other than that, she drives butter smooth with no odd noises or vibrations.

To go with these other additions, I acquired a ton of parts for my engine and heads and also sent my heads to IAG for machining!! So for engine parts I acquired the following:
RevWorks RW1200 from Sonic the drag car, w/ IAG Fire-Lock Rings, Pinned Mains, RW Closed Deck
Manley Turbo-Tuff Tri Beam Rods
JE Ultra Pistons - 99.75mm 9.5:1 Compression
OEM STi Nitrated Crankshaft
ACL Mains and Rods w/ Extra Oil Clearance
RCM 14mm Superstud Kit
IAG Competition Triple Disc Clutch
BC280 Camshafts (Shoutout to Import Image Racing, they let me exchange my old unused BC272 Cams for these and I only paid for the restock fee. Amazing customer service from them)
GSC Guides Intake and Exhaust (IAG have installed these)
GSC Intake and Exhaust STD Size Valves
GSC Valve Seals
GSC Double Conical Valve Springs w/ Ti Retainers (Coming soon)
IAG 2.5 Chamber Match and 14mm Conversion for my S20 Ported Cylinder Heads

Just waiting for heads to return from IAG, then I can have my local machine shop enlarge my pinned main dowel pin areas for 6mm pins, torque plate bore and hone, deck the block and heads, balance the rotating assembly, and perform a valve job then I can assemble everything myself!

After spring started, I pulled the car out and gave her a good romping for a couple weeks until it managed to completely blow a cam seal out of the head on the passenger intake cam. I noticed the oil pump was also seeping so I opted to replace all 4 cam seals, crank seal, oil pump seal and the rtv, and a new belt tensioner. Drove it around for another couple weeks and after a few hard pulls noticed she dropped 3-4psi of oil pressure at idle so I went to limp it home and noticed it also was now making a funny noise around 3-3.5k which I immediately figured was rod knockish sounding. Back to the shop it went! Holds proper oil pressure still, and only makes the rod knock after full warmup around 3k-3.5k, but I'm not too worried since A: it held 26-28psi for 9 months and I didn't expect it to last much longer than 3-4 months tops. B: Built engines almost ready anyways so who cares!

I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff, but honestly I love the car more than ever. It rides so well with the fortune auto 500s, grips incredibly well, and is pretty peppy with the s363sxe with a .82 v band housing on this lil ol 2.0. If I had to guesstimate, revving to 8k on 26-28psi it likely makes around 450-480whp. On 18psi it dragy'd over 90mph in the 1/8mile, and likely weighs about 2850 without me in it, so it's fun!

Enjoy some recent pictures with the new Autospeed exhaust, and a cracked front lip hahaha.
