By the end of the day yesterday I had cut the rear quarters, sealed them up, sanded down the doors, and started molding the Mines spoiler.. tons of work in perfect weather couldn't have asked for a better day.

A little tip for anyone who comes across this thread in the future looking for advice or tips on cutting your rear quarters. If you use a thick cutting wheel, it leaves you with more surface metal to weld/seal. Also, if you have a large metal mallet, you can shape the inside of the rear quarters, instead of cut multiple fins on the inner quarter panel to push out. Ends up saving a lot of time, and significantly reduces the amount of material you actually need to cut.

The only thing left to do in the rear, besides sand the molded Mines setup, is figure out how much further to push out the rear bumper tabs.

Still working on that trunk molding... it's taking a while to get the shaping all right, but about 90% done. Wrapping this trunk is probably going to be a bitch.

Happy to finally be making real progress, but progress is slow. I think it took me about two hours to do one quarterpanel side of the car after removing all the roof rack trim and cleaning out 15+ years of crap underneath it!

Yeah I totally agree, I honestly wouldn't have time to put in all this work without the current situation. Working from home means no commute and that saves hours each day!

Over the weekend I finished up both quarterpanels, and worked on the roof and trunk. Not really content with how the roof/trunk finished up, may need to redo them

Spent the weekend slowly continuing the vinyl wrap. Bugeyes are NOT easy, the door handles SUCK. And, I ran out of vinyl portions big enough for front and rear bumpers... d'oh.

Vinyl project is taking forever, as supplies are starting to dry up with companies not printing as much material. While I wait for restock, working on smaller items, like this Spec C roof vent

Wow gorgeous bugeye! I really enjoyed reading through this, giving me some goals of my own.

Your rear bumper set up, is that the Ver7 STI rear spats and diffuser on a 04-05 bumper? Or how did you get the tail lights to fit?

The rear bumper is simply a normal Bugeye bumper, with small, circular holes cut out to assist with fitment of the 04-05 tail lights. Cutting the holes isn't absolutely necessary, but it does assist perhaps one or two millimetres.

In other news, continued the wrap job this weekend.. minor project.. the door handles.

Mancave Bugeye Garage project continues. Picked up some old banners from a shop in upstate New York to join the Motul banner -- I can only imagine the stories behind the super large GT Spec banner, which is probably at least a decade old.

One of the many things I've learned on this journey, is that after bodywork, vinyl will not stick properly to some types of body filler. This requires a solid clearcoat application after bodywork is complete. For anyone else that goes down this same path, let me suggest DiamondClear. When it dries, it's super hard, and makes a good surface for vinyl applications.

On that note, the front bumper work is done, and cleared.

This will be the daily bumper while I rework the ABW bumper below to fit perfectly on the current widebody:

I am starting to get concerned about the lack of traffic on NASIOC, and afraid that it's slowly dying. I'll always come back here, but I want to stay in touch with the OG GD platform guys that are still lurking in the shadows. SO INSTRAGRAM ME.

I would like to stay in touch with the OG crew. instragram.com/maximum_overdave

I've been spending a few hours here and there this last week trying to finish up the vinyl wrap. All I have left at this point is some basic trim pieces. But, I did finish this bumper.

This took a super f'n long time, from start to finish. Because EVERYTHING shows through on vinyl, it was time to rework the bumper and "V3 lip" from the ground up. I'm laying this out because some of this bodywork stuff could be helpful to others in the future.

* First I sanded down everything with an orbital sander. Any imperfection in the paint, even a stress crack, will show through. So, gotta sand it all down. It takes time, and sucks, but orbital sanders help.

* I was tired of the V3 lip center portion that lays ontop of the bumper looking wavy and not perfectly flat. You know how it just sits on top of there when you install the V1 or V2 lip? I riveted the center portion of the lip to the bumper, along the backside, then grinded down the rivet heads as much as possible, and laid a coat of Evercoat (it has to be Evercoat because it flexes, do NOT use Bondo, it will crack under stress). I sanded down everything perfectly flat. I really can't say enough about how much better Evercoat is to work with than Bondo -- it dries faster, and is much, much harder (yet also flexible) and resistant to stress cracks.

* Note: I played with using evercoat to bond the sides of the center lip to the inner mouth of the bumper, testing it out, it will separate under stress (like if you scrape over a speedbump) so advice not doing that.

* There was no point in doing all this work to the lip and not shaving the center license plate area and side vents. In each case, I cut as cleaning as possible, put a backing behind the area that needed to be filled, and either plastic welded a piece to fit the space, or used a polyurethane filler. Sand down as good as possible, then wrap. Not too bad.

*So how do you wrap a lip/bumper combo when the center portion is molded? Still do it in two pieces, just leave the sides of the lip unattached so you can wrap around the top of the lip before attaching it to the rest of the bumper.

In the last month:

* Finished the Bugeye, took it to it's first car show
* Changed out tires
* Bugeye became a 100% garage queen

I want to stay connected with OG NASIOC people. As NASIOC drives on into the darkness, please add me so I can add you on Instagram -- @maximum_overdave

A lot of changes going on right now, ended up doing an engine bay overhaul. Going back to the shaved and tucked thing, but pointless at doing pictures until I'm completely done.

In the meantime, finally upgraded the rear caliper situation.

Just wait about a month out.

This is what I've done recently:

1. Redone the battery/starter/fuse box power cabling, mimicing the BMW single cable setup. Decreases clutter.

2. New fuel lines and decorative end clamps

3. Earl's Plumbing in-line fuel filter. Signifncantly deceases clutter on the rigt hand side.

4. Shaved and repainted intake manifold.

5. Paranoid Fabrications dress up kit.

6 In process of relcoating fuse box into quarterpanel box, using a flexible wiring harness hose as seen on track Porsche models.

7. Researching ABS relocation options.

8 Potentially - removing AC systems.

Damn it's been 4+ months since the last update. Pretty much everything is on IG now.

AC gone, ABS gone, proportional valve gone, brake booster gone. Battery in trunk. Fuse box in quarterpanel.

Dozens of hours later, here is the status of my engine bay as of last night

It's taken a really, really, really, really, really long time to get here but, metal flake and base coats are now both complete. Today hopefully I'll finish the pearl clearcoat.
