The Fender stereo that's standard now is spectacular. If you listen to music with deep bass, the sub might run out of steam, but for rock or alternative, it's great.
It was a joke aimed at a subaru guy knocking the golf r interior.

Don't mind him he gets offended easy. We can giggle in the corner and he's checking his fly and nose.

I am not a fan of the A3/S3 interior but the GTI/R have the best interiors I have ever come across @ any price level, specially the GTI with the plaid seats. Those seats are pure perfection for me, the Fender system is light years better than the HK I have in the WRX (which is complete garbage considering the price) and the overall layout is very, very elegant with excellent ergonomics. Having said that, I think the current Subbie interiors are nowhere near as bad as people make them out to be.

They have improved a lot. The hk system in my 2015 legacy was pretty solid.

I see VAG is really pushing that nub of a shifter. Don't like it in a Porsche or an Audi. I have always found Audi's to be pleasing to the eye but of late I have noticed a lot of sameness with their new styling. This doesn't look like much of a styling departure from the current model.

I've sat in many, many cars over the years at car shows and car lots... (sadly, I don't get to drive nearly as many)

The MK7 GTI plaid cloth seat is probably my #1 seat of all time I've sat in.

I also think the MK7 (not MK7.5) GTI interior is superior to the Golf R, due to the lack of piano black, nice red stitching and red accents as opposed to the silver accents in the Golf R.

Default 2021 Audi S3 Sportback And S3 Sedan Debut With 306 HP, 0-62 MPH In 4.8 Seconds

2021 Audi S3 Sportback And S3 Sedan Debut With 306 HP, 0-62 MPH In 4.8 Seconds

Audi Sport has unveiled the new generation S3 in Sportback (hatchback) and Sedan body styles, which will act as the range-topping members of the lineup until the RS3 breaks cover.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine sits at the heart of the two models, developing 306 HP (310 PS / 228 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. The TFSI unit is paired to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive system, a setup that allows the cars to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The standard suspension features a four-link rear axle and progressive steering, dropping the body by 0.6 inches (15 mm) over the standard A3. However, the S sport suspension with damper control can be installed on request, enhancing both comfort and dynamism. Stopping power is provided by the new electric brake booster and four ventilated brake discs.

Dominating the front end is the Singleframe grille with large rhombus pattern, three air intakes between the bumper and hood, as well as generous openings beneath the headlamps. The back end sports a four-fin diffuser with cutouts for the quad exhaust pipes and darkened taillights. There are also new side skirts, blacked out emblems and standard 18-inch or optional 19-inch wheels that accentuate the sporty looks of the new S3 Sportback and S3 Sedan.

The driver-oriented cockpit is defined by the newly developed sports seats, aluminum or carbon inlays, and flat-bottomed steering wheel. The infotainment system and digital gauges can be supplemented by the head-up display, which is an optional extra, alongside the ambient lighting package and more. Audi connect key, which lets drivers lock and unlock the doors and start the engine by using the Android smartphones, and Bang & Olufsen premium sound system are also available.

A host of safety systems are on deck, including lane departure warning, pre-sense front and swerve assist with turn assist, with the lane change and exit warnings, cross-traffic and park assist systems being optional.

Pre-sales will commence this month in Europe, and the first cars will arrive at dealers in early October. In Germany, pricing will start at €46,302.53 (equal to $54,475) for the new S3 Sportback and €47,179.83 ($55,505) for the S3 Sedan. An Edition One model will be available for a limited time, in Python Yellow for the Sportback and Tango Red for the Sedan, with 19-inch wheels, black accents and fine Nappa leather upholstery. In the UK, the hot hatch starts at £37,900 ($49,525) and the sporty saloon at £38,465 ($50,265).

I like that wagon a lot. I'm sure it won't come to the USA and if it did I'm too cheap to spend $55,000 for a tarted up Golf R.

Interesting to see in the ever increasing HP wars that they did such a small bump. I guess for Audi they have the RS3, wonder what they'll do for the Golf R.

I think the sedan looks better. IMO the hatchback looks too much like a Q3 from the rear.

That wagon is what a Mazda3 hatch should've looked like.

I'm not into these donkey cars.. A3/S3 looks stupid short and small. I'd much rather buy a Golf-R from this platform, or a TT-S/TT-RS (if they still share the same platform). And 0-60 4.8sec is slow these days.

Don't worry; that Euro-to-USD conversion is meaningless (don't know why articles are mentioning it).
You can check pricing of the outgoing S3 in Europe and compare it to what we pay here as an example.
It's not anywhere near the Euro-USD conversion rate.
I'd say pricing is going to be starting at $46K.

Euro 6a/6b CO2 emissions / fuel consumption constraints with WLTP test cycle are very tough.
I wouldn't expect huge power increases without electrification. Europe is cracking down on fuel consumption big time.

Same. A luxury badge really commands a premium, doesn't it? $55K is quite a bit of money for this.

I view this as the car for people who can afford bigger luxury cars but want something small. If you got $50k to spend and want something small and high quality, what are your choices in the US? Not much.

I think both sedan and hatch look great, this gen and next.

For the USA that will actually be a 2022 model, showing up in that latter half of 2021.

The depreciation on the S3 is pretty abysmal to make things even worse. Plus i live in California so that's almost another $6k in tax/license. The only way to buy these cars (unless you don't care about money) is wait until the next model year and find a leftover for like $10k off. You might even be better off getting a RS3 because the resale value is much higher on the RS cars (i just wonder how hard they are to sell later on down the road).

I'm sure it's cool in person but based on the pictures, the S3 just looks far too busy. The A3 of this same upcoming generation looks better, which I never expected to be the case. Hopefully the RS3 has a better exterior.

I don't think so. I had the MK7 Autobahn GTI while owning my current Golf-R with the piano black interior. They're the same, just a matter of preference if you want the red stitching with red LED or white stitching with blue LED.

Piano black is a nice finish if you know how to care for it. I have no issue with piano black and like it.

It's a pretty little car. 144 months of rust coverage is cool, too. No one I know that owns one recommends a new one for long term ownership, even though they're rebuilding two Quattros: one as a WRC clone and the other as a road car.

That is a Kia Forte, my girlfriend has one. I have a 2015 wrx stage 2. We take her car everywhere if it's over 60 miles. It's a great car for the price! I wish the Stinger or G70 came with a stick, id give it serious consideration. After driving her car tons of times, im a big fan of Kia and Hyundai. I think they just released a turbo model too (Forte GT). Also has 5yr bumper to bumper.

Hyundai/Kia have been stealing styling cues from the Germans for years. There's literally no way the Germans can even tweak their styling without it coming across as similar to a Hyundai/Kia.
