Question Grille/bumper doesn't line up with hood

Also just posted this in the service and maintenance section but I thought maybe someone here would know about the frame structure or something and be able to help out:

This came to my attention yesterday when I swapped my CF hood for a stock 02 WRX hood... The front of the hood hangs over the front grille piece a little bit on the passenger side, and even more (about 3/4") on the drivers side. It may or may not have been in a small fender bender before I bought it (clean carfax).

The guy who was swapping with me told me that the front frame can be pushed back towards the firewall without much force, and it's an easy fix. He said it just needs to be pulled back out. Anyone have experience doing anything like this?

Brian

perhaps you could see how much play there is where the hood bolts onto the hinges.. the height can somewhat be adjust on the front of the hood by the rubber knobs on top of the frame

It is more likely that the hood is the issue. Cheaply made fiberglass hoods, with a thin layer of carbon fiber on top of them, pretty much all suck. They never fit correctly, mainly because of the cheap resins used and the way they are made.

You can bend the upper tie bar of the radiator support easily. It's just thin sheetmetal. It bends back easily too. Bend it back with a big prybar or even a ratchet strap hook to an immovable object.

Here is a picture that shows the problem

Can anyone give me more info on the ratchet strap method? I'd rather do that before taking a dremel tool to my hood mounting holes...

Park the car near something solid that won't move. Wrap a a large 2-3" or so ratchet strap around the upper tie bar and to immovable object. Tighten the strap pulling the upper tie bar back in place. Do one side at a time, checking parts fit as you go.
