Widebody Sealants- HELP
Hey, I've got a project widebody going on, I've had the rears re sealed twice now and it has cracked both times. I'm after some advice on what people have used to seal, Must be able to be painted on and must be able to handle the weather! Thanks

I don't know.....but......glass, CF or metal kit?
How are parts attached? Are parts painted, and if so, what kind of paint? Does the sealer also act as a filler between parts? |

Sorry, Fiberglass. And yes it would also act as a filler. I'm unsure of what paint, It wasn't me who painted it- Was a panel shop

I have fiberglass widened rear quarters grafted to the factory steel quarters on my Fox Mustang. The guy who did the work used one of the Marine-Tex products; I can't tell you which one specifically. That was way back in 2007 and the panels are still in place with no cracking or issues that I can see.
In the years since the work was done I have seen Marine-Tex mentioned in discussions of bonding fiberglass and metal. I'm sure if you search around you can find info about which type is best to use. |

This is what I would use after properly prepping both surfaces.

Widebody Sealants- HELP

I don’t think that product would be strong enough. That product is just for sealing folded seams on metal parts so moisture doesn’t creep under. (Door skins) It doesn’t have any bonding strength. OP needs a quality panel bond adhesive. |

What you’re wanting to use is 3M 8115 panel bond. You will have to sand down your cars body to bare metal for the sealant to where properly. Used it on my widebody and worked great. It’s also Sandable once dry.
