Default High Coolant Temp Diagnosis Help

Hey y'all! I rarely post and try to figure things out myself but this one is eluding me.

I have a built motor WRX and have been seeing my coolant temps easily hit 230 when my AC is on and the car is idling. In addition, temps will go up quickly if I do 3rd and 4th gear pulls (ex. going from 205 to 216).

I have a Koyo radiator and have tried sealing the fans to it with high temp aluminum HVAC tape, cylinder 4 Cooling mod, many attempts at bleeding extra air out of the system, and adding heat shielding on the radiator near where my exhaust manifold comes close.

None of these have helped with the issue so I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction as to what may be wrong. Thermostat? Water pump? Fans not kicking into high speed? The lower coolant hose gets just as hot as the upper.

Caveats: this motor and turbo puts out 461whp so it gets hot in there. I have deleted the upper turbo coolant tank and put a custom bleed valve in this orientation - coolant supply from lower coolant port on the block -> turbo -> IAG AOS -> BLEED VALVE -> black coolant hardline on top of the block that the OEM upper coolant tank used to flow to.

Any help is appreciated!

Okay so today I reburped the system and verified that both fans operate on high and low speed properly. Some more air came out and I revved it high a few times to try and blast any left over air out of the heater core. I will come back and post results after it cools down

did you use those funnel thing that raises the coolant level? on other cars i usually have the front of my car lifted and always worked fine. but with the Subaru I wasn't enough. I still had air even after trying to bleed it twice. I got that funnel thing off amazon and it worked.

before my temps would be ok while driving but on a semi-hot day in line for autocross the needle started to climb. I let it cool down and drove home no problem. when I bleed to system the next day I had quit a few bubbles come out.

What's the typical ambient in your area? Pictures of the front of the car.

Thanks for the responses!

I do indeed have a Lisle funnel and even built an adapter that threads into the upper bleed port I replaced the upper tank with.

I have an upgraded cooling system consisting of a thick boy Koyo radiator, GDT Cyl 4 Cooling mod, OEM fans, silicon hoses, all stock location.

For the front I got you regular 14 WRX bumper. I have a Cobb front mount intercooler that covers maybe halfway up the radiator and an oil cooler in the upper grill area.

I'm thinking I may need to relocate the oil cooler. I just did a track day and after 5 minutes I have to back off because coolant hits 230f and oil 270f.

I'm wondering if I actually do have a small head gasket leak. It wasn't big enough to breach the overflow if it was there

Default Issue found

Just coming back to tie up this thread. Finally got a pressure test and it turns out the coolant fitting to my turbo is leaking only under pressure (~15 psi). I will fix this and be back to let y'all know the results!
