Raw fule
Hey guys I'm very new to this forum and my 14 wrx. I just had ID1000 injectors installed and a protune done on Saturday and since then I've had a raw fuel smell in the cabin, is that because the tech may have spilled a lot while disconnecting the injectors? If you need to know My mod list is N1 cat back, Invida divorced waste gate catless down pipe, cobb access port V3, Cobb intake with the box, and the deatschwerks DW65c fuel pump.

Update. I looked over the techs work and one of the injectors wasn't seated properly. ***128545; Got it towed back to the shop. You think he'll need to re dyno my car?

If same shop, he'll likely at least put it on the rollers and or do some street pulls to make sure its all good. I've had a leaker before and it was found during the tune...I can't see why this wasn't discovered during the tune, but stranger things have happened. As with all things car, weird stuff does happen and as long as all parties display a good attitude about it, it will work out in the end.

Does anyone know if a Walbro 341 can be easily modified to work in the 08-14 models? If so, is it the same or similar to the modification for the 342?
A friend has one he never used just sitting in his garage. |

Hey Unabomber, longtime listener, first time caller
I can't seem to search correctly for a great thread that explains how the fuel pump, fuel pressure, fuel flow, fuel pressure regulator, and injectors all work together? I found the calculators on the deatschwerks page https://www.deatschwerks.com/fuel-calculators I don't know how to find the numbers I need to put in the calculator, and I'm pretty far away from the big picture here. I have a DW 255 in the tank with DW 650's and stock everything else, I'm pushing 400hp and my IPW is really high like 85-100. I'm doing a bigger build and need to figure this out. Please let me know if you know a good thread or can explain this to me, Thanks!!! |

You don't need to figure it out, that's why you have a tuner. You say, "Hey buttshark....I'm going to put in XXX turbo and my goal is XXX HP. I have a DW 255 and DW 650s, what do I have to buy to support that?" Buy what he says.
I JUST went through this in the last few months. I said, "Hey asshat, I want to make at least 400 WHP on normal PSI on 93 octane for as close to $7 as possible, what do?" He said, "Dom 3.5 turbo, bigger clutch to support more torques". I said, "And then?". He said, "No and then.". I bought the stuff, he installed, he tuned I got at least 400 WHP and now I'm happy. Extra thought or hand wringing or worry on my end? Zero. |

Sounds like a good time, especially calling your tuner a dinglegoblin. Def a much better time than I had figuring it out -
Took a minute but there's great info on the summit website https://help.summitracing.com/app/an...5245/related/1 Watch out for the math, it's not that hard but can be confusing Fuel pumps need to flow enuf(at your desired/needed fuel pressure) to feed the injectors, injectors need to flow enuf to match the HP capabilities of your engine. Fuel pressure works inversely with the pump and injector Morrr fuel pressure = LESS flow from pump Morr fuel pressure = MORE flow from injector So you use a regulator to lower pressure if your pump is too big and you need less pressure at the injector, or need more flow on a smaller pump You increase pressure if you need more flow through the injector, as long as you have a big enough pump to deliver enuf fuel at a higher pressure. Maybe that's right, I just graduated from youtubeiversity so |

That's a good generalization. However...tuners are prima donnas. They, regardless of what a calculation or fuel pump vendor or fuel injector vendor says will specify you use XXX pump or YYY injectors or ZZZ regulator as it makes their job easier. This, while seemingly bridezilla behavior, can save you much time and money in the long run.
