Pro-tip. Use a torque wrench and anti-sieze if you use Ti bolts.

going to ride Tiger again tomorrow. borrowed bike, with and from an online buddy (who I've met in person and is thus less likely to murder me and wear my skin as a suit later). making the most of my time since the skiing clearly isn't worth it on the coast this year!

I haven't been riding, or much of anything for over a year from health issues and depression from having health issues, and I am finally getting out of the fatigue and funk and doing what I can. It's looks like I am having very regular long-duration vestibular migraines, and am dizzy / whatever a LOT, but that's a different post. Somehow I've ad attrophy and been lazy and not gotten fatter, I am at 180 (6'1")

I dide some outdoors, like taking my Terra to the store, and short rides. Not much Trail riding becasue it's hard for me to scale it back, and I don't really want to hit a tree or otherwis misnavigate. I need to work on that becasue I need to get out in the forest before I really loose it.

I ride my 27.5 Novara on it. I got a new saddle so my dick doesn;t go numb after 30 mins. I also nbeed a riser bar for it. I was foing to get another PNW Range gen3, but I found that Jenson has a Race Face Next Carbon bar and a RF Affext stem on sale ($99 and $25) so I will put the bar on my Occam, and use the PNW.

I have a lot of atrophy - my bike shorts got to be baggy on my thighs. I got back into daily yoga and core work so I don't get taken out by spinal stenosis again. and started splitting firewood for 3 hours plus walking the 1.5 miles with about 300' of hill to get there. I started doing horse stance and "asian" squats every day, plus come glute med work.

I've done about 6 rides since Jan 1 - I was out for 2 weeks of that time. Between that and the workouts, the wlastic on my shorts is not baggy anymore. That horse stance thing is no joke. I can do about 1 minute with my hips below my knees how, and I di that 3 times a day. The other day I did a trainer ride where I planned on 10 minutes of warm up and cool down with 40 minutes of work averaging somethere over 200 watts., cadence 80. I ran out of gas at 35 minutes. Really at 30, but I kept pushing.

I think I hit my power goal for 35 minutes. and nailed the cadence. You can probably see why I need to recalibrate and tweak smoothing from the analysis graph.

I aslo, after at least 40 years of poo-pooing chain cleaneres, bought a Park cleaner, adn found out I am a dumbass for removing my chains to clean them.

I used to take the chain off then soak and swirl it in a quart container with some citrus degreaser, repeating that until it came out clean, usually three passes, and it would take 1/2 an hour of work, and I needed a new quick link. Now I can make a pass in 5 minutes.

Went for a few long hikes in the bike park this past week with the dogs (4 miles up and down trails, rocks, etc...) . Didn't get dizzy once. Not short of breath. Power to keep going and not having to stop all the time. I think getting off the metropolol may had been the key to not having fun at all exercising. I'm thinking the metropolol was keeping my heart rate artificially low (that's its job), and therefore my lungs were like "you don't need more air" and then, get dizzy because my brain is going "I'm starving up here!"

Going to get back on the bike this week a few times after work and just start out on the fire roads to see if this change I feel (endurance) is real or fake. Won't go back on the trails until I have a buddy to go with.

During the winter, I raised the bike up a little bit, and found out my back shock was on its way out. Started researching replacement and... the car guy in me wan'ts to get an Ohlins.

For the longest time, I figured people were reusing quick links when waxing chains...which seemed to me to be low risk, but increased risk nonetheless.

So lemme get this straight, I can get 8-10,000 miles out of a Dura Ace road chain by keeping it clean and lubed on the bike or I could spend $5 every time and effectively buy a new chain every 10 cleanings with one hell of a lot more effort? How long do you need a chain to last?

There's people who love processes like that, but reality is that I'm just not one of them.

I got new RaceFace carbon bars and diety grips installed yesterday, and decided to pedal around a bit. It's been 6 months since I rode it due to being dizzy or whatever constantly, and vertigo a lot. I had to put in sealant to keep the rear pressured. I ended up going to the jump track. I was only doing some 6' jumps, but man that felt great. I think I can dial it back my riding on the trail now. It doesn't seem like a good idea to still be going around a corner in my head after exiting it. But if I don't start riding in the forest again soon, I'm just going to step in front of a bus one day.
