What happens if you hit engine load limit?
With some new mods to my supercharged Subaru I'm seeing what looks like fuel cut to me.
I am driving along at part of full throttle and all of a sudden AFR on my wideband goes to full lean. Obviously I let off of the gas at that point... I am wondering if I hit the load limit - does load limit cut fuel, timing or both? I am only seeing fuel being cut. Trying to figure out if it could be fuel cut or something else? If I roll onto the throttle later, it does not happen.

There's no such thing as Engine Load limit.
Maybe what you are running into is Boost Limit by RPM, which cuts the fuel. Regarding the Engine Load, there's no limit on it. However there is your map scaling for the Engine Load in terms of fuel and timing. The worst thing that could happen is your fuel and timing table being stuck in one column (the far right column), as the load is not scaled properly within your setup. For an example, my 2011 WRX came with a maximum of 2.70 engine load scaling for almost all maps that uses it. I had to rescale it so the maximum load scaling for all maps, timing, fuel, etc was 3.70 so I could have different timing and fuel between the stock maximum 2.70 and the actual maximum 3.70 If i didn't do it, the worst thing that would happen is, when exceeding 2.70 engine load, it would just use the same column for the higher loads. So timing between 2.70 engine load and 3.70 engine load would be the same. and that's it. |

There’s definitely multiple max engine load limit tables. Both overall and by RPM. Maybe not all Roms.

When you hit fuel cut it'll feel like the car has hit a wall and it'll go into limp mode. Does your stock AFR sensor agree with your wideband? A log would be a good place to start.

It isn’t like when I hit rev limit fuel cut. I think it’s my supercharger belt slipping. We have uncovered the various load limits and increased them all to 8 so I feel like that should be good unless there are more we are missing.
