Default 02 WRX LED headlight bulbs 9007

Searched and didn't find much. But has anyone successfully installed 9007 Cree style LED bulbs on a bugeye?

Looking to get better light output from the stock headlights without going to HIDs.

Looking into a set of bulbs similiar to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/9007-80W-800...NXPN8L&vxp=mtr

Wondering if the LEDs fit with the stock retainers since the bulbs have large heat sinks on the back.

You're going to be scattering any useful light, stick to your halogen reflectors or pony up the dough and do it right with an HID retrofit.

If you want better output make sure your headlight lens aren't hazy and buy some quality halogen bulbs.

Already have sylvania silverstar in my bugeye looking to get away from halogens. I've had HID's in my other cars and the light scatter isn't so severe to me. Thanks for your input.

My question was referring to fitment of the Cree LED bulbs in the OEM headlight housing with the 9007 ring retainers.

Philips xtremevision or narva rangepower 50+. Silverstars are overrrated crap.

What Cobrakai was trying to tell you is that it's a waste of time and money to use LED, or HID in a halogen reflector housing. It might appear brighter than halogen, but you are producing a terrible light pattern giving you LESS usable light. Not to mention blinding oncoming traffic!!!!!
As a bugeye owner myself, I know just how crappy the stock lights are. If you really care about light output, then get one of the following:
•a good HID retrofit
•JDM HID converted to left hand drive.
•DEPO Bugeye STI replicas
•Morettes
•clean up your current lenses and do some REAL research on good halogen bulbs and optimize what you have (post 4 has great suggestions for bulbs) (even optimized they will only be just ok, but FAR BETTER THEN A CRAPPY LED/HID MISMATCH).

There you go.

Good luck.

The post above is the best advice you are going to get here.
The 9007 configuration isn't the greatest for lighting performance to begin with, and there isn't much you can do to improve it. The Philips and Narva bulbs mentioned in post #4 may help somewhat, but forget about plug-and-play LEDs or HID's.
Morettes and Prodrive/UK-300's were a good aftermarket option but they have been unavailable for a long time and your only hope with those is to find a good used set in the classifieds.
Another thing you can do is to buy or fabricate a relay harness for the low beams to eliminate the substantial voltage drop on the ground/negative side of the lighting circuit. This will make a noticeable difference in light output even with stock bulbs.

Retrofitting is probably your best bet, TRS has a kit for 320 for their mini D2S projectors, ballasts, shroud, and bulbs.

All you would need is a wiring harness which can be had for around 40 dollars on top of that.

The Mini H1 kit is 270, but then you're stuck using non-oem grade bulbs (if that matters to you).

Guys. Come on. None of you have answered the question. I myself would like to know if they fit , crapy or not. I to am just curious about the fitment. I appreciate the honest advice but at the end of the day the question is still not answered.

Anyone with answers ?

Sorry but the answer hasn't changed. Whether they fit or not, it's a bad idea.
Go ahead and try them if you like, just make sure you can return them if they either suck, don't fit, or both.

You may not like that answer, but it's the right one. If you really want to improve the lighting on a bugeye, within the limitations of the reflector/9007 setup, the suggestions given are the way to go. Otherwise you'll be blasting light all over the place.
This is just like your A/F gauge thread, we're trying to help you out here.

I read that post brov and I disagree. That response does not say whether the bulb fits or not. It's obvious I won't get an answer here , or maybe you can't answer because you don't know. Anyway Thanks.

They fit. You just have to disassemble the bulb itself to fit into the bracket then re-attach it from the back .

They do not fit over the locking mechanism they would have to be modified

Umm.. they actually fit. Like I said before, you have to disassemble the bulb from the connector then push the glass part or led part through , place the locking system in the housing then refit the connector to the pins at the end of the bulb.

So do you have the issue they are talking about with FOG LIGHTS turning on the HIGH BEAMS?

Thanks.

So testing in my Garage, this add on seems to have fixed it:

HEADLIGHTS: SEALIGHT 9007 HB5 Led Headlight Bulbs Hi/Lo Beam 12000LM 24xCSP Chips LED Conversion Kit Dual Beam Bulb 6000K White

ADD ON TO FIX ISSUE: SEALIGHT 9007/HB5 LED Resistor Kit Relay Harness Adapter Anti Flicker Error Decoder Warning Canceller

LOWBEAMS WORKS
LOWBEAMS with FOGS WORKS

Yes it works because the resistor simulates the path provided by the halogen bulb filament.
I would be wary about using those however because unlike with the resistors used for LED flashers which are only powered intermittently, these will be energized for long periods of time while the headlights are on. They get very hot and present a melting or fire hazard for anything nearby so you have to be extremely careful about where they are mounted. They should be attached to metal to act as a heat sink and far away from any wiring or plastic.
As for using LED's in your OEM headlights, you already know my opinion on that but it seems you've made up your mind.

+1

The heat generation from that add-on circuit can be a safety concern.

PnP LED is also a concern but that's a more complicated discussion.
