Legacy/Forester/Baja R180 conversion?
It's for a Baja... Which makes it more difficult because the Baja has a very, very funky rear suspension setup.
However, I was wondering if there's any chance at swapping a R180 in. I understand that you have to swap the subframe, which shouldn't be impossible (unless the Baja uses a non-standard subframe? I don't think Subaru is capable of that). So, is this swap considered impossible due to there not being lateral links that fit, or is there another reason that I've never heard of anyone doing this? It's 1:30 AM and my brain feels like a very runny soup, so I hope this question makes sense. >_> I'll try cleaning it up next time I log on.

I believe the Baja has the same rear suspension as the Legacy GT with those weird trailing link/knuckle combos.
The LGT Spec B came with an R180 so you may not need to swap subframes. You will probably need Spec B axles or suberdave's missing links to make your own hybrid axles. https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2048240 Also, this guy is doing the same thing. |

Stock axles are kinda garbage, I've already replaced 3 front axles, so I was going to go for Spec B axles all around.
Right now, I just hope that I can keep my stock clutch alive until I can get a 6 speed/R180 sourced and paid for. XD The R180 not requiring a subframe is actually really nice to hear, axles are expensive, but I think worth it. I think the Spec B axles are better at handling more torque than the stock axles? Then again, I can spin all 4 on a hard launch, and I'm still using the TD04. |
