Many of you know I wasnít thrilled with the numbers from my tune. Similar setups were making much more power. Turboxs suggested that my exhaust was holding me back so I replaced the turboxs standard axleback with a greddy evo2 catback.

Here is the graph after my appointment: 351hp / 322ft-lbs

Now I know comparing dyno numbers from different dynos on different days is apples and oranges but here but this dynojet is known to read lower numbers then the turboxs dynapack.

Here is a run with the turboxs map and the new exhaust:

As you can see the exhaust helped some. Here is the utec log from that pull:

Iíve been working on map over the past couple weeks and the morning of the mach v event I was out on 28 trying to fine tune things a bit more. Here was my final road pull before I felt like I had a nice strong map ready for the dyno day. What I should have picked up on was at rpm 4444 I was at 23.9 psi. I have my fuel cut set to 24 psi. If I would have hit 24psi the utec would have cut fuel. (thatís a good thing)

This is the 3rd (4th?) mach v dyno day Iíve been to and what Iíve learned is how a car behaves on the road won't be the same as on the dyno. Saturday was no exception. The map that I was using jut 2 hours before ran more boost on the dyno. 24psi and hit fuel cut. Bummer!

Even though I hit fuel cut I didnít knock. I was prepared for this situation and had another utec map ready to go with slight lower CLB values. I also raised the fuel cut to 25psi just to buy me some head room just in case it snuck past 24psi again.

Here is the pull from that run, plus the dyno chart. The dyno chart also shows the baseline of my car at the frist dyno day I went to:

Damn. At 5445rpm I had a knock count of 01, the utec pulled timing (good) and you can clearly see the dip in power at 5400 rpm. Even though I didnít knock on the road I did on the dyno. Saturday night I ran the map again and it wouldnít knock, but just for safety I pulled half a degree of timing there and brought boost down to 22.5-23.

So why did this map make 33 more whp and 70+ torque then the turboxs tune? Easy. Itís a lot more aggressive. More boost, more timing, less fuel. What was interesting to me is that none of the dyno pulls hit EGTís of 1600F. Before the exhaust I would hit 1600F at the tail end of a long pull. The reduction in back pressure helps a lot.

So what is next? Iím going to experiment with the coolingmist alcohol / methanol injection kit to get ready for the 91 octane.

ahhh...so now I get what Dave was talking about.

And what 91 octane are you talking about? Is Va. changing or are you moving?

p.s Anyone want to but a turboxs exhaust? It's good for up to 351hp!!!

Non load bearing dyno != Street driving
Numbers dont look bad at all tho, just be happy you arent running into any other more pressing issues. (like mechanical failures, mystery knock, etc)

My car pulled 266hp 287tq.

I can post the charts if anyone wants to see. Pretty much standard for a stage 2 STi though.

What does a stock 2005 STi put down on that dyno?
