Default Washer fluid low warning won't turn off - 2017 STI

The title says it all. The light won't turn off even after filling the reservoir with fluid. Its been an off and on thing for a few months now. Does anyone happen to know if there's a fluid level sensor built into the reservoir?

Of course that's how it knows the level is low. Unfortunately I believe it's buried where it isn't easy to access, maybe by removing or loosening the inner fender liner. Find the electrical connector and unplug it, if the light goes out there's your problem. The sensor could have failed completely but it's also possible the float is just stuck.

I’ll try that, thanks!

Probably have to change out the reservoir all together. I hear they have the sensor built in to it normally. Maybe it’s just a messed up hose or connection. Check all the hoses that connect to the reservoir and see if there are any holes or kinks. That could mess with the sensor

This is also happening in my 2015 wrx. The lights is always on from the moment of startup and the reservoir is topped off with mostly water and some green rainx fluid. Looks like I'm going to the dealer to have to get it checked out. Hoping this extended warranty will cover the issue.

Happened on my vw from the sensor getting dirty. I just unplugged the sensor and bypassed it by jumping the connector. Not sure it's that easy on these models but if it is it's worth doing. That car wouldn't **** that the reservoir was low even though it was not, and I don't need the car to tell me every 5 seconds that it's low on fluid... ever...

Default are you using rainx fluid?

I had similar problem with rainx fluid in non subaru cars that use sensor that works on fluid electrical conductivity.

My GR sti does not mind the rainx, though.

May be newer Subaru uses the newer type of sensor?

Default I have this problem too on 15 STi

I've had this problem for a very long time. Anyone fix it? I may just short it out if possible.

I had to buy a replacement reservoir, which includes a built-in sensor for my outback. Bought a used one on EBAY. Kind of a risk, but luckily it works!
