Default My DAM is at .75.... ): should I be worried.

Ok, I did some logs after getting my accessport. The car has a Perrin TMIC. Cobb downpipe and cbe. 91 gas shell. Should I be worried?

yes. that means your timing advance is being reduced majorly because the ecu has seen some major knock. Its not seeing major knock now because the DAM is reduced. If you reset the ecu, the DAM will go back to 1 and the knock will more than likely come back up (assuming you have the same gas in it).

if it was me, i would reset the ecu, and drive with the AP on to monitor the feedback knock. If you see some -2.8 knock during your driving then something aint right.

may need to change maps.
map you are running would be helpful to know.

How long has it been installed? How long after you flashed, was the log taken?

No. Just no. His DAM will go to .5 or .75, depending on what the initial multiplier is set for. If he hasn't driven the car enough since flashing, the DAM may not have even gone to 1 yet.

I'm new to tuning, so I may be wrong, but in order to get good log data shouldn't logs be taken at WOT from around 2500 rpm to redline in 3rd for a 5 speed and 4th for a 6 speed? I just noticed that he wasn't running WOT.

how long does it take the ECU to learn up to the max DAM value, which in this case should be 1.

Are you running a Perrin map? Or is it protuned? If it's not tuned for the perrin tmic, I'd start there

im running cobb's stage 2 acn 91 map. the log was in third gear. I've been driving the car for 100 miles before i did the log. i will try to reset the ecu and see what happens. Is it bad to drive the car regularly with a .75 dam?

For this particular map and car, the initial DAM starts at 0.5. The DAM will be reset to this value whenever you install the AccessPORT, reflash a map, reset the ECU (via AccessPORT or other device/software), or disconnect the car's battery. It starts out in steps of increasing at 0.25, so it likely has not learned completely yet (0.5 + 0.25 = 0.75). It shouldn't take very long, however, but these specific maps for these cars can take a little longer due to the way we've modified the dynamic advance tables at the time (years ago when it wasn't known that a lower value would impact the potential speed at which the DAM was learned). We will fix this in a future update (no ETA), but for now, you want to try to get some heavier throttle runs (with boost) around 2000-3000 RPM which should advance the DAM. It is not a problem to run with the DAM less than 1.0 when it is just a the case of not learning up to 1.0 yet (due to a lower value after one of the procedures I mentioned was completed). Alternatively, if the car is running well, you can request a copy of AccessTUNER Race and change the "Dynamic Advance Multiplier (DAM) Reset (Default)" table value to 1.0, so that the ECU will not have to learn from a lower point.

Ok, thanks Bill. Does my data log look ok though? It seems like im underboosting? I will update with another data log after maybe another 100 miles.

Your "WOT" run is a little short. If you can do so safely, try to get a run in 3rd gear from 2000 RPM on up. Your throttle is not showing 100% at WOT - make sure your floor mat hasn't creeped under the accelerator.

I was looking at my base map in ecuFlash and the initial value of the IAM (assuming it is the same as DAM) was .75. Stock this value was .5 There is also an Advance Multiplier Step Value which is set to 0.25 on both stock and the base tune from XPT. I am guessing that the step value is reduced by some other multiplier, because there is only one step of 0.25 between 0.75 and 1.0 ?

This happened to me. I won't give details as it wasn't good news.
