Question 6SP or 5SP? My 5mt gearbox is trashed in my 01 2.5RS Coupe.

2001 Impreza 2.5 RS Coupe GC8 NA.

Saturday I shifted into second gear and BANG. I shifted harder than usual. I have month old parts installed: ACT Stage 1 clutch, Cobb Tranny mount, Cobb short-throw, STI Engine mounts. I always use Uncle Scotty's Cocktail. I guess there was no give in the drivetrain. I will hear from the Tranny shop today what the technical damage is.

I am willing to make the best cost effective decision. I'll pay $3000 for a six speed only if it makes a difference and it's that much better. I'll pay $2000 or so for a used 5mt.

Anyone have one for sale?
Will a 6mt perform with my 2.5 block with only 175HP/Torque?
I heard that the 5mt suby tranny's are poorly designed, is there a fix or an aftermarket 5mt?

Insert Picture feature doesn't work, here are some pics.
