Ej207 HF2 - Ej20k HF - piston help
Hey guys, been a long time since ive been on here. I have picked up a 97 gc8 again without an engine, i picked up an ej207 short block for a build but later found some damage to the block. So i picked up another engine, a long block 20k. So i had them both apart inspecting them.
I have some HF pistons that came from the 20k. They are in good shape, minus a couple extremely small knicks in the crown that i can smooth out and probably just use them. Skirts are in great shape, was going to get them recoated for piece of mind. I also have some HF-2 pistons from the 207 which i was going to use since they were in even better shape but skirts had some more wear, come to realize the 20k pistons are taller than the 207 pistons.. Now im trying to figure out if i could run the hf-2 pistons in my 20k block with a 207 head gasket to keep the CR relatively the same. I am also trying to figure out if the ej207 had the 8-1 compression ratio as did the 20k? i did read that the 207 had a thinner .8mm head gasket and the 20k had the 1.6? or the 1.37, so it is possible that the compression ratio was the same. pn - 20k HG- 11044AA463 - it said 1.6mm but i thought stock was 1.37 pn - 207 HG- 11044AA483 - .8mm Also, if someon can point me in the right direction for any ej20k gasket part numbers, trying to find out if the usdm wrx engine gaskets would work or not. If anyone can shed some light on this would be great.
