New Milwaukee fuel right angle impact
Milwaukee fuel is coming out with a brand new Fuel right angle impact. It says it has 220 ft lb of torque.
Yes, they had a right angle impact before, but it was not Fuel. I.e. it was not brushless and not very powerful. Very curious if these things will take out a crank bolt and/or bell housing bolt. I definitely want one. I'm not sure if I'd want 3/8 or 1/2. I'd lean towards 1/2 since that is what all of my impact sockets are but of course 3/8 are smaller profile. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...SABEgJUXPD_BwE

I really need to get myself a compact cordless ratchet. Not so worried about impact capability, but more about tight places.

I'd have to guess no on the crank bolt and bellhousing bolts. Impact ratchets are for under dash and little things like water pumps, fan assemblies and radiators. You'll still have to crack the bolts loose because 220ft lbs is not enough power to crack them loose on it's own.

My m12 ratchet is one of my favorite tools. There are different versions. The fuel is more expensive and more powerful and brushless. I have the non fuel one for ratchet. But I have a lot of fuel tools and they are clearly better. |

Will be curious to see. This is all new, brushless, not like their old one which was pretty weak. I’d guess it’ll do bell housing and smaller suspension stuff. Not sure about crank. I know the tiny little hex impact I have will do lug nuts with a little time. Rated to 100 ft lb. |

Mr Subaru did a video on this. He did bellhousing bolts and lug nuts no problem but didn’t try the crank bolt

Here is another video, it un-does 229 ft lb... I would say it'll probably do just about anything on a Subaru except suspension parts that are rusted on and/or where the bolt has rusted to a bushing sleeve so that the bushing is absorbing the impact.
I'd bet no question: Crankshaft bolts Bellhousing bolts Caliper bolts |

New Milwaukee fuel right angle impact
Well I got one. You can’t fit it in front of the crank pulley without removing the fans anyway. I’d still consider doing this but my crank bolt isn’t old and seized.
Great tool though. |
