Been following this new STI thread (and others) since the beginning....you mean to tell me with all the people on this forum (or other Subaru forums) no one has a connection or reliable source from Subaru that has leaked some info for us? My friend who works for Ford was talking about the Bronco project for years before they made any formal announcements. Where are all the NASIOC Japanese homies? No one has a cousin or uncle that has the inside scoop over there? I'm about to find a Subaru janitor/interpreter and start paying him to take some pictures or scan over some documents for us during the night shift!

But I'm all for nuclear power. We just need to find a better way to get rid of the waste. Vitrification and storage is only going to last for so long. Find a safe way to launch this crap into space and send it on a one-way trip to the sun. Maybe they can include the plans for the EJ25
Yeah, I'm all for nuclear power too, but like most people, I don't want a nuclear power plant in my backyard
Just went to hanford.gov; I didn't know about that clean up operation.
Man, they can't half-ass this stuff; scary .
I still can't believe that, starting with MY2018, Subaru managed to obtain CARB LEVIII cert for EJ257 which means they could keep using it for a few more years if they wanted to .

Their account gets removed pretty quick.

SOA Blog used to be fairly active on here. Then they got burned by people trying to make stupid points about the Isle of Man TT STI.

One of the last reliable "leaks" we got was when a user informed us that the 2015 STI was getting an EJ motor while the WRX was getting a new FA motor. He was working behind the scenes right before their reveal. We were all pissed. I think all his posts were deleted shortly afterward.

So really it's not worth it to have an insider. Subaru is a very conservative company. Heck, they requested the production timeline leak be removed not long after it popped up.

When NIO gets here with BAAS it will take 3 minutes to swap the battery for a fully charged. They have also developed chargers of which they have deployed 300,000 already in china that do it in 2.5 hours and are designed for residential use. Needless to say between tesla and NIO over the next 3 years there wont be any problems with charging a battery, either to 100% or partially with a quick boost to get anywhere you want to go. There will be 100's and 100's of thousands of ports to plug into, whether its in your driveway, around your corner, or basically anywhere LOL.

Plus all the gas in the world isnt going to help when a main bearing seizes, a water pump blows, a head gasket blows, a piston blows, a timing belt/chain breaks, a clutch gets fried, leaks of toxic multiple fluids that can catch fire, etc etc etc etc.....the advantage of EV's is mind blowingly obvious. Gas engines are about to become obsolete...3-5 years tops.
Why would I put a gas station in my driveway? I can go around the corner and fill-up in 10 minutes or so. I can’t go park my car at CVS for 4 hours to recharge.

The electric grid and commercial battery design is going to take time to get to the point of a 10 minute recharge.

It will get there but not in 3-5 years.

Please slow down and read what i said.

Peace,

Greg

Can we please get a moderator to move this to non-Subaru news, and make it an EV thread?

No my gas station in your driveway analogy is to illustrate how much easier it is to set up EV chargers.....MUCH easier logistically, construction and far far less space needed. Point is that its not going to take "massive infrastructure projects" as had been said here, to install EV chargers all over the country, as they are far FAR easier than building gas stations. This is really just common sense but people cant see beyond the big oil dillusioned thinking...not you personally per say. I think you get it. For the context of this thread I think it should be discussed; the "new engine" (wich will already be an 8 year old design when if finally hits the showroom floors in the new STI), is going to be very short lived before it is supplemented with EV motors, or replaced with a different engine and larger EV power. 2025 is the latest I see the new STI keeping the drivetrain as rolled out. MASSIVE production increases of EV's will be proliferating by then.

The STI will not be obsolete within 5 years unless you are substantially jumping price to buy something like a etronGT, Taycan, etc. All of the EV's remotely close to the STI MSRP being released in the next few years are boring people movers.

5 years? Maybe we'll see a few cars like the ID.3R trickle into the market place. But they'll be first gen attempts. Not well flushed out high volume sellers.

Nope all wrong, in 2025 there will be a 2 door STI that is powered by hydrogen capable of 1000 mile range and all the hrsprs.

Subaru needing to keep the WRX secret has more to do with moving their current cars than anything else. Levorg is already out there. The FA24 is in production. IMO the STI should be the only model worthy of a secret. It's not like there's much in the way of competition at the WRX price point and content.

SOA Blog seemed to stop posting here right about the same time he/she/they got called out for claiming that Subaru only had enough “bandwidth” for a WRX//STI sedan. Not realizing that this internet thigamajimy goes beyond the domestic market.***129300;

I mean, what they said makes sense. Denial doesn't change the facts. Make a Levorg that sells in places that buy wagons. Make a sedan that sells in places that sell sedans. Make a Levorg that can sell at a relatively high price. Make a sedan that sells at a relatively affordable price.

Speculation: Sell some Levorg in a place that doesn't really buy wagons. Neglect markets where the Levorg would sell for sure (at higher prices).

Official Statement: Make the Levorg, but also make the hatchback so that it'll sell alongside the sedan. But the hatchback, sedan and wagon won't perform as well because of the thinned out resources.

I'm not happy about not having a 5-door option either, but I'm not gonna act like Subaru is purposely withholding from their largest market. I reason on what's presented. I would've preferred they sell a 5-door over a sedan, but at the time I'm sure they didn't want to taint their performance image by not offering a sedan at all (see 2011 STI sedan for reference).

Americans are fickle and it's a tough crowd to please while attempting to stay in business by being profitable. This is why Subaru tossed around becoming more of a premium brand since they kept hitting production capacity. Good thing they haven't done it yet because apparently Mazda hasn't fared well going that route.

Why do we have to bring Mazda or anybody else into this?
Forget about Levorg; the fastest low riding 5-door we can buy is a 152-hp Impreza.
That should never have happened. Period. I don't care for excuses and explanations at this point.

That's your prerogative. I like me some facts, but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea.

There are also alternative facts. Those are always a hoot.

Perhaps, you don’t remember, SOA Blog was suggesting they didn’t have the allocated resources to develop more than a sedan version, so they used those resources to make the best sedan they could. The suggestion of “bandwidth” restrictions was about development, not marketing.
They got caught, and disappeared!

too high off the ground, too much plastic cladding, the roof rails are too bulky, and of course, no manual transmission

Perhaps, you don't remember, SOA.....up to that point.....NEVER talked about other market product. So, in my opinion, their mistake was their wording. All they had to do was add something along the lines of "for the US market". Some wordage that didn't "hint" to another market's product.

I completely agree. Their wording came off as disingenuous. Probably because they were. They weren’t hinting about other markets. They were denying the capability to make something they already were making.

I didn't mean to come off as being obtuse; but, I'll admit, at this point, I'm a wee bit frustrated with Subaru and their offering.
