News 6MT swap 2012 wrx

Now I'm not sure how active this thread is anymore, but I've run into some issues on my 6-speed swap. I've got a 2012 wrx widebody with the "V8 jdmi sti" transmission, r180, and driveshaft. The issue I have run into is the axels and driveshaft are too short to fit into my wrx hubs. The driveshaft is also to short to fit my question is what are my options moving forward for the axels and driveshaft? Am I able to just reuse my current wrx axels until I am searching for more power?

You can use the wrx front axles. They fit just fine. Driveshaft has to be from 08 to 14 STI. Rear axles 08 to 2018 STI fits.

Sorry for reviving this thread.

Do you know if the STI front axles are compatible with the front WRX hubs?

I just had my 2011 6MT swap done, and I used front and rear STI axles. But now im getting vibrations while I'm driving which seem to originate from the front wheels and from the noise I am guessing it is the wheel bearing. Did I mess up by using the STI axles instead of the wrx ones?

I have been reading posts all over the forum and so far I have only seen one reference saying it is incompatible, the rest either don't mention the front STi axles at all or they say they work just fine

You would not be able to use the STi axles if they didn't plug into the WRX hubs. They use of STi axles is not your issue.

Check to make sure the axles are properly installed.
Did you insert the pin to secure the axle to the transmission stub?

Were the STi axles in good shape?
How were the boots? Were they cracked or damaged?

The vibrations could be from any number of things:
- Bad Wheel Bearings, although you tend to get a squeeling noise first
- Bad CV joints
- Loose axles
- Brakes
- Something rubbing somewhere

It looks like it was the front STI axles that caused the problem. In my case, I have a 2013 wrx and I used 2011 STI axles, and they went into the hub no problem. However, what I did not realize is that the stub on the hub side of the STI axles are a bit longer than the WRX ones, which prevented the axle nut from properly securing the axle to the wheel bearing and now my wheel bearing assembly is toast.

So I've run into a bit of an issue, I have 08+ sti rear axels but they are refusing to lock into the r180 diff. Am I possibly going to need to take the original v8 axels and swap the inner splines?
