Default Hellcat walbro 525 Fuel pump ?

anybody use this? I read a couple of members were using this pump? Did you hardwire into battery using relay off oem FPC? I know iwire makes custom GTR FPC controller customer wired into oem Subaru FPC to control 525 at high/med/low speeds to prevent over heating of pump.

I am running xona 6564s with id1700 cc injectors and want to put down 600 whp on e85. Right now I have the walbro 450 in a radium surge tank. Thinking the 450 will not be enough for the id1700 injectors or is it?

any insight please share you experience ! thanks!

If you're trying to max a single pump, the hardwiring will be your cheapest route to getting it the power.

iWire and DCCDPro both have fuel pump controller options.

I like the Visconti Setup. It uses the Hellcat pump, very nice basket, and there are wiring options.

I'm running a Walbro 535. Same as a 525 minus the check valve. Flows a little more and draws a little less amps.
The Walbro 535 is hardwired to the battery. I'm using the Subaru FPC to control duty cycle as well.

Wanted to asked you are you running into any problems with overheating the pump running it 100 percent all the time? i run my 450 at 100 percent all the time and its not hot at all. are you running oem hard lines in car or upgrade lines?

i am trying to run the hellcat 525 pump in the radium surge tank. i think the 450 in tank will supply ample amount of fuel to surge tank containing hellcat 525 pump.

i have both 450s pump hardwired to battery off relay to oem FPC already. Spoke with iwired and they told me running 450 at 100 percent isn't bad. if i ran the 525 i would need to use the fuel pump controller from burning out pump. its like a gtr fpc thats like $600. it controls the 525 pump low/med/high. don't know if i want to spend that kind of dough if i don't need it.

I have no way of telling if I'm overheating the pump or not. Its installed onto the stock fuel pump hanger (99 Impreza). It doesn't run 100% all the time. Its either 49% below 0PSI or 100% above that (Carberry ROM). I'm still on the stock hard lines and FPR.

FP Green HTZ and ID1300x fuel injectors.

I have no idea on how much power the car is making. 21PSI on 91OCT and 24PSI on E85.

Car was previously tuned in Reno. Now that I'm in Henderson, hopefully theres a tuner that is willing to push the Green a little harder (E85) on the stock rev.G 207.

Looking at it, it appears you still need a relay and direct to battery wiring. It's looking for switched power plus an ECU input, and I'm going to guess it needs a ground wire in there somewhere. But the battery switched power would need to come from a relay that's tripped by the stock wiring which then sends full battery power to the controller, which reads the ECU signal and outputs appropriate power to the pump.

At least that's my guess. Did they say it houses a relay and it's really all self contained?

Not sure. I'm keeping my bugeye on hardlines so I might get one to guinea pig with the internal surge set up I've been tinkering on.

My coupe however I don't mind having multiple pumps hardwired. So at that point it's more about cost effectiveness of one BKS1000 vs two 450 or 535 pumps. But that car already has AN lines run.

I had 3 walbro 044 pumps 1 intank and 2x feeding off surge tank, 1 oil scavenging pump for foglight mount and 6 gauges with no radio installed. Car would end up dying after running it for 10 min. So upgraded to high output alternator fixed all the issue. Ran all pumps 100% with relay to oem fpc.

Let me know how that brushless setup works. That might be better then running 525. Brushless setup already comes with its own fpc ?

So talked to radium, tech told me to run the 525 @100% because that's what they were made for. No need for fuel pump controller. Also told him about my oem hardlines and he said it would be best to upgrade them to keep pump from Working so hard.

For a great comparison, but lacking the brushless options, Realstreet has you covered.

Just to follow up. I'm actually overheating the stock fuel pump controller. Doesn't help that I've also placed it in an area with no air flow and its 100°F outside.

EDIT: Its actually the 30amp circuit breaker from Summit Racing's hardwire kit that's going bad.

I ran my first Walbro 450 100% of the time using Radiums basket and hardwired it.

It crapped out after about 20k miles and 2ish years. Replaced it with another one and its been solid for about 6 months.

That’s what I’m afraid of. If ur running oem hardlines probably making the pump work harder then usual. I’m doing vibrant ptfe ss lines -8 from surge tank all the way to engine bay in cabin next to oem hardlines. And using the oem hardlines feed and return as both return lines. 1 to surge tank and the other to the main tank.
