I forget, Sergio wasn't a pay driver, was he?
Interested to see how last years mercedes do against the non merc cars. Anyone have any opinions if what they've done goes against the spirit of the rules/sport? I'm pretty meh but, I guess it shows how lazy modern engineers are. |

There's a rumor out that the Ferrari had to redesign their
engine and its is down on power. Notice that all Ferrari power cars are struggling. |

Albon was ahead at mid-corner and on track-out. At some point you have to say "he's got me" and fight another day. It might have been tough to re-pass Albon given the tire situation, but still... |

I thought 5s was fair. Ham could have avoided that.

Great race, how many times have we seen Hamilton boot someone off the track? I just can’t believe they started charging him time for it. Hamilton and Mercedes are the sorest winners in the paddock. Mercedes and their $$ has done more to damage the sport.

It's called racing and Albon should have known better than to think Hamilton will not defend his line and let him through. That's why Albon is still a rookie. He doesn't know when he should attack and he's attacking at all the wrong times. Just because there "might" be room to get by before the pass, doesn't mean you'll have room at the pass.

One of the better F1 races in a while now. I realize the race got a little less interesting when Max went out, but the number of DNF's and mechanical failures was somewhat unexpected. That always makes things a little more unpredictable. I don't think anyone guessed Bottas, Leclerc, and Norris on the podium.

Both Red Bulls dropped out and Ferrari car is crap. Max could've won this race. |

If you had told me yesterday that a Ferrari would be on the podium, I would not have believed you.

If HAM didn't punt ALB and the other Red Bull didn't crap out, wouldn't have either. Ferrari just lucked out. That may be all they can count on this year.

No fast enough to out run Ham's line. So no, it's a total Rookie move and you don't see those from the "adult" drivers, only kids. It was not a clean pass. Albon didn't have enough speed or distance to clear it without interference.

Too bad we couldn't have a full season of Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren all competing at the same level. That would be fun to watch. |

Bad move by Race Point not pitting Perez, He could've got 2nd.
He was a sitting duck.( forgot about the 5sec penalty) Albon had a shot of winning if not got punted off. Come on Haas, Brake failure at lap 25, and later lap 50. Poor Kimi. 1 point by AR may be the only point they get this year. Last edited by MrH; 07-05-2020 at 09:59 PM. |

Going to have to agree with Counterfit on this one. Seriously doubt the Mercedes was understeering and no way HAM wasn't aware ALB was going to attempt the pass - especially seeing their positions coming out of the corner and how far ahead the Red Bull was before the contact. If the positions were reversed, you can bet HAM would have been throwing a major hissy fit over the radio and ALB given a bigger penalty. The race officials also ruled HAM at fault, but of course, not everyone will agree with their decisions. If anyone shouldn't have attempted a ill-advised pass it would have been VET - who is far from a rookie. |

But anyway, I don't love Hamilton, and anything that makes for a better championship is fine by me. But sure, I think most would say that was on the weak side of penalties. |

I'm not a big fan of penalties, and I definitely don't think penalties should go into whether someone meant to do something or not. I think penalties encourage whining and finger pointing. It's racing, let them race.
Pretty good race though. It's always more fun to watch drivers battling it out on the track instead of just watching cars dropping out because of mechanical failures. But it was filled with unpredictability nonetheless. And it was really good to see Lando end up on the podium! |

1st race of the season and the stewards must of been napping again.
Perez gets penalized 5 sec. on lap 26 for speeding in the pit lane and didn't announced it until a few laps left in the race. ( it used to be a dive thru ) Is it really that hard to determine if he speeding in the pitlane? Why the delay? edit: He may of speeding when the after Kimi's crash. The cars were routed through the pit lane. Last edited by MrH; 07-06-2020 at 03:21 PM. |
