I am super glad you guys did this testing. In the middle of an engine build and it looks like the 2.5 N/A is a great option.
Thanks! and great work.

curious if you guys did any kind of bellmouth around the opening? I know don't see any in the pics. Just wondering if the necking in the opening might effect some of the cylinder to cylinder flow balancing.

It'd be interesting to see an ej20g as it appears to be the closest thing to the wrc manifold from the factory.
But it's still old n crusty Last edited by DSM_Outback; 08-21-2011 at 07:02 PM. |

I hadn't noticed claying differences (within reason) to cause much variance, especially that far up stream. It simply reduces the pressure necking that you'll have at that flat 90* bend. With the plenum being here, I don't it would have much effect either way...was just curious

Guess I should've worked a little harder on retrofitting the 05+ big plenum/long runner to my motor instead of jumping on the stupid low price of the OBX ITB's....
I have a big plenum/short runner manifold sitting on a shelf if anyone is interested. I'll be keeping the long runner for myself though! Thanks for the info!!! Jay |

Nice data! Thanks for this...I'd like to see a retest with some big name manifolds on it...it'd be interesting to see stock vs cossie vs a consistent pnp job like GRIMMSPEED

Still making arrangements for round two; being as we're not buying all of the manifolds we're testing, it may take a little bit.

Any possibility of seeing flow numbers on stock usdm sti ported?
I have a grimmspeed pnp that i may have around for a little while. How long do you think the turn around would be and would you want to use your TGV deletes. It will be atleast a month before i have a set. Its suppose to be of 05 USDM STI Last edited by bswilmington; 08-31-2011 at 07:03 PM. |

Regardless of porting the STI and wrx manifold have 0 plenum.

This is an awesome thread. The more hardcore guys can use some of this info to shift their powerbands slightly to the left or right, or add more midrange or topend with choosing long runner short runner right?

Just picked up a EJ25 SOHC Big Plenum Long Runner. Won't be until next spring, but I will be doing some before and after dyno testing compared to stock sti. Great thread btw. This data pushed me over the edge to change mine.

Really great info guys, Thanks for a positive contribution to the community.
Looking forward to seeing the Plastic Legacy Manifold and the Cosworth Manifold tested. Its been my experience that the Legacy Manifold makes more power with virtually no loss down low. It would be nice to see some actual flow numbers. |

IIRC it has 0 plenum as well so its not going to make any good top end. |
