Yeah for 1 seat that's pretty expensive, but it would be nice in say death valley.

I've never had an issue with getting too hot in cloth seats. Leather on the other hand need be heated and cooled. makes them so much easier to live with.

Has anyone ever had the battery cable off for an extended time (say more than like 15 minutes) and when you try to start the car, you need to have the starter on for like 10 seconds before it actually starts? It happens half the time when I take the negative cable off the battery for longer than a couple minutes.

That is typical Subaru when the ECU resets.

Replaced my battery recently and car would shut off immediately. Had to keep trying maybe half a dozen times before it was ok.

I know a few people have had the following issue but now it is happening to my car quite often. My traction control, abs, hill start assist lights are all coming on at the same time when the brake pedal is pressed. It used to only happen when it was really wet outside or even humid. It is now happening often without any moisture. Anyone ever get this issue solved?

The last time I had this issue I told the dealer and they checked it out and tried to say it was driver error for braking too hard LOL. It's now happening everytime I am coasting to a stop with my foot on the brakes. What does the brake switch do? Is it expensive? I have an extended warranty.

How do you people have such stupid dealers? I've never had a problem with the dealer service center here.

Really digging a black sport grille on these cars (Obsidian Black Pearl). Especially leaving the little chrome wing. IMO it ties the chrome of the badge in very well.

As flyboy and commanderkeen mentioned, it is most likely your brake light switch that needs to be replaced. It is very simple to do. It is located above your brake pedal and can be removed by twisting and pulling it out. You then detach the cable from it and insert the replacement. See link below for installation procedure and pictures.

A little more information about the switch I found Subaru came out with a replacement brake light switch in 2015 for all models 2012 and newer. See this article for more details: http://vitalysmobileautodiagnostics....ubaru-vehicles

So I went to my dealer and bought the new version with the part number: 83311FJ000

Original brake light switch (gray):

New brake light switch (blue):

The part is very cheap. Online it's like $15. I bought it from the dealership for $20 and replaced the broken one in 3 minutes.

Random problem I've noticed recently.

My driver side windshield fluid nozzle tends to not really spray "up" anymore. It kind of just sprays right above the wipers. So more STRAIGHT than UP. I've tried poking it with some thin tools incase if something is lodged in there to no avail. Any suggestions? Or would I want to just buy a new nozzle? I'm out of my regular warranty, but would something like that still be covered? If it's easy and cheap enough, I'll just do it myself.

Also, as an update, the damage to my side skirt is now fixed.

Finally got to the dealer and picked up the 3 clips I needed. They're these little blue ones with a "shelf" on one side (holds the skirt), and a nipple on the other (attaches to the body. I got 3 for like $6. Done in 5 minutes. Easy to do if that ever happens to anyone else..

Woops, I just ordered 8311FFG011 earlier this week because it was $10 cheaper shipped. Oh well.

edit- Actually a reviewer says they send the blue one, which is the new part. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JEHI8WC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Does anyone have a good resource they can share dealing with brake maintenance? Specifically inspecting the brakes, preventive maintenance, installing new pads?

Great info! Thanks a lot! So it's just a plug and play switch? No wiring necessary?

Can't tell if sarcasm, pretty sure it is.

Anyway, service manual has step by step what to do and what to look at, where to grease, tolerances.....

Brakes are super easy, just follow the book, grease where required, thread locker where required, and torque where required.

Oh, and most likely your rear rotors iirc may be stuck to the hub, subaru had threaded holes to uses 2 bolts to press it off, m6 or m8, can't remember which. But I had to use them

Not saying brand new torque wrenches cant be faulty but this is my review from a cheap one bought on Amazon and as you can see its more than accurate:

Picked this up for my car mostly.

I work in a military calibration lab where we do electronics and physical/mechanical assets. Threw this on the torque calibrator:

@ 20ft/lbs = 20.4
@ 70ft/lbs = 69.8

----------------

Typically larger torque wrenches are less accurate but when I say larger Im talking 500+FTLB
