Turbo burning oil, band aid timing +/-
So yeah basically I know that the 6266bb on my STI is burning oil. I am aware that it's and issue of the clocking of the cartridge. It is actually at 40 degrees, I bought it like this and was no aware that it was so far off center. Whoever put the build together had the mindset of getting the drain away from the header, but in doing so clocked it wayyy to much.
Anyway will retarding the timing help with the amount of oil burned? Timing retard make cylinder temps less, but heats up the manifold more. So what are some thoughts?

Changing the tune will not change the fact the turbo is burning oil. You'll need to either get the cartridge right or get used to it burning oil.

well if its not getting in the cylinders then there is no reason to worry about the retarding the ignition But I would be very weary about a car that is burning oil... make sure you check it pretty regularly
