Default mileage problems....

what's the tank size on the 2002 WRX? cuz I'm getting really low mileages, and I have no idea why.

I have Injen Intake, blitz BOV. I'm getting only around 245miles per tank. is there something wrong?

Just got a heavy right foot ???

I get about 450km (281.5m) out of a tank in my MY00 (aus spec) (turbo back exhaust and boost at 15PSI).

Worst I've done is about 206m out of a full tank. But that was a 200m drive averaging about 130mph (That was with the car standard though)

I've heard that having an externally venting BOV can cause an extra usage in fuel on the standard ECU.

is there something I could do, so the ecu won't dump more fuel then it suppose to? or am I not setting up the BOV correctly?

I've had anywhere from 200 to 350 miles on a tank (from full to warning light). If you don't like your numbers, just ease up with your right foot!!

Best has been 343m out of a tank, I can't stop from putting my right foot down We have no speed limits on the open highway where I live, it's way too much temptation.

As for the BOV, I don't know, I'll have to ask a couple of guys that have them here, I still use the faactory BOV.

Yeah, but most people don't drive like me. I don't shift below 4k. EVER!

Oh and that mileage was part of a club drive where I led. I didn't shift below 7K then.

The best I've gotten was 300 when it was brand new. You do the car injustice when you go for more than 250 miles on a tank IMHO.

This car has the worst mpg in the friggin universe. I got better miles to the tank form my 89 toyota...which had a 9 gallon tank.....but there was a hole in it so I couldn't put more than 6 gallons in it.

The best MPG I ever got was during the break-in period when I usually shifted before 4K rpm. It seems like the more boost the lower the MPG. BTW I also have a '01 Volvo V70 T5 that's averaging 16.9 w/ my wife driving it. I think the the auto mfg. had grandma driving their cars when they tested them for MPG.

How many Litres to a US gallon?

I have had some legs of journeys at 11.11 kilometres / Litre (about 7M/Litre) working on a 1Gallon = 4.5 L I'd work out 30Mpg... It's possible, just cruise That was sitting on ~65mph for about 120miles.

Brett

PS fuel economy is much better than my old 5L EFI V8

How many Litres to a US gallon?
1 Gallon = 3.785412 Liters
1 Liter = 0.2641721 Gallons

And for those who are interested;

1 km = 0.6213712 miles
1 mile = 1.609344 km

1 hp = 0.746136 kilowatt hrs.
1 kW = 1.340239 hp hrs.

I average about 80 mph (100 miles round trip to work)with a couple of blasts to over 100 every tank, sometimes waaaay over And I'm averaging between 20 and 21 mpg ( about 33-34 km per gallon) Best ever 22 mpg, worst 19 mpg.

Thanks for the conversion Andy..

If I am messing around, back and forth to work, I get about 450 km on a tank.. I made a run up north to sudbury when the car was at about 3000km and got almost 600km on a tank..

When I get the Chip, I am sure all that will change..

My personal best was 409.9 miles on a tank. I coasted into a station and refilled it with 15.117 gallons (27.12 mpg). I did that once just to see how far down the gauge goes.
My commute is mostly hiway. I keep it around 80 mph when traffic permits, but there's always some slow-n-go or stop-n-go. I routinely get 350 miles (+/-) on a tank.

I have been averaging around 22 mpg, in commute traffic. If I am nice, it goes up to ~24-25 mpg. if I beat on it, it is around 19 mpg
