I considered vinyl wrapping it, even though it's a PITA to the uninitiated. I always get impatient and don't warm up the wrap enough.

If it's cheap enough I'd consider painting it... Somehow I'm more patient with that.

Are you watching movies / photo editing or gaming? VA is better for the former and IPS for the latter, IMO.

I think I'll mostly be using it for gaming. It's pretty much why I'm getting a PC. My Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is meant for photo editing on the fly and the screen is fantastic for watching movies. So, yeah, I guess I already have my movie/photo editing monitor.

I'm looking at the Alienware AW2521HFL 24.5". My desk isn't very big and even with my arms stretched out this 13" is plenty close to me as I type this. Overall reviews seem to be favorable for the Alienware monitor, and its motif is exactly what I'm looking for aesthetically.

Edit:

Pulled the trigger on Alienware monitor.

Fanatec boxes get here today!

I think my G25 knows what's up..
League racing Iracing/miata and the steering base came loose on me nearly crashed.. stayed in gas and tried to fix wheel mounting and shift 3-4 at the same time.

shifted 3-2.. Engine ceases to exist.. long tow.. speed in pits leaving.. black flag stop and go penalty.. messed up and took new tires.. and a splash of gas.. and last place.

wreckers or wreckers, isn't that what they say?

Ball park, what are we looking at price wise?

I have been looking into these (just a little) but haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. Trying to justify going for the good stuff, but should really opt for cheaper stuff just to make sure I enjoy it and keep using it.

$2700 @ fanatec = DD-2 with r300wheel, clubsport pedals/shifter, accesory/upgrades
$500 for the extruded aluminum frame components
$180 for bits to adapt DD2 and shifter to frame.

$3500ish total.

You could cut half+ out of the fanatec order going CSL.
I'd have likely overspent more if not following someone else recipe, this aluminum rig is a home brew copy of something that retails for 2x.

Still $$ to go, it'll get a triple head setup in some future. POS single monitor for now.

Makes my $1000 for flight simulator controls seem almost reasonable.

Almost.

Ugh. Just had a 3080 asus strix in my cart on the asus site trying to checkout only for the asus store to go down. I’m assuming bots using ddos attack?

Maybe next time ...

Getting close to it.

Honeycomb yoke and throttle, pedals TBD and then some extra bits to use as second screens and inputs.

I built the PC primarily for MS Flight Simulator and will use it to supplement future flight training, which may save me money, or at least pay for itself in the long run given the cost of each flight hour with an instructor.

Pretty sure if there was a real full body haptic system on a 360 treadmill that worked with popular games....ok well I'd pay like 20k for it. Maybe not everybody, though.

At least that driving setup looks way nicer than any car I've owned. hah

Not even CNC'd cupholders?!

Definitely interested to see how it is set up. How extensive are the frame components?

Looks pretty awesome so far.

Frame I think was 78 bits and pieces, 1 of them being a cup holder.

I was told it’d take 5 hrs to build, said I could finish it in 3 and fix mistakes in another 1-6 hours likely. My die/tap set is already in the room because one of the paddle screws was a funny angle and I thought I mung’d it up.

I thought it would be cool too, but the amount of running I do in games I would be dead, maybe I'd get in great shape though

Escape from Tarkov would keep you in great shape. In game, your character has a sprint and endurance mechanic and a need to hydrate and consume food.

I get annoyed when vr makes me squat..

Think I prefer sim driving because seats. I will say lots of sim driving will work you out a bit. You see little jimmy broadbent’s shoulders and upper body develop after he went to direct drive rigs.

Dual purpose sim /home gym.. even more value!

Compared to regular racing that is still cheap.
You might be able to buy a functioning lemons car for slightly more but it will need work and consumables/fuel/entry fees.
