4eat TCM DTC code 23
Just went stage 2 with cobb’s OTS tune on my 02 WRX. Did a ATF change along with the filter. Now tranny is acting up, only when I full throttle and it downshifts seems to kind of stutter and at oil temp will pop up. Maybe I possibly didn’t fill ATF to correct level? Did the secret handshake and I seem to get code 23
( two long flashes, 3 quick flashes ) Now if I’m correct 4eat on 02 wrx is phase II version I? Can’t seem to find what the code 23 means for that specific 4eat, anything will be helpful thanks.

Trans gets filled idling in park
Lowest 2 dots are add and full at cold ambient temp, upper 2 dots are add and full at operating temp. Sounds like you're under or overfilled significantly. Service Manual: The level of ATF varies with fluid temperature. Pay attention to the ATF temperature when checking ATF level. 1. Raise the ATF temperature by driving a distance of 5 to 10 km (3 to 6 miles). Otherwise, idle the engine to raise ATF temperature to 70; 80°C (158; 176°F) on Subaru Select Monitor. 2. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 3. After selecting all positions (P, R, N, D), set the select lever in P range. Measure the ATF level with engine idling for one or two minutes. 4. Make sure that ATF level is between the upper level and lower level at HOT side. 5. If the ATF level is below the lower level, replenish recommended ATF to bring the fluid level between the upper level and lower level. CAUTION: -Use care not to exceed the upper limit level. -Be sure that the replenishment of ATF to the upper level with the transmission cold will cause overfilling of ATF and result in a transmission failure. 6. Raise the ATF temperature by driving a distance of 5 to 10 km (3 to 6 miles). Otherwise, idle the engine to raise ATF temperature to 70; 80°C (158; 176°F) on Subaru Select Monitor. 7. Check the ATF for leaks. Make visual inspection for leaks from the inside of transmission. If there are leaks, repair or replace the gasket, oil seals, plugs or other parts.
