what if the front drivers side wheel is the one thats not spinning? does that still have anything to do with the rear diff? i need to know how to fix this issue.

Bumping old thread

I have been having issues with 'clutch slipping' in very cold weather, replaced the clutch (had 80k on it) and it didn't fix the problem. Turns out the rear left axle popped out. Used a pry bar to push it back in until you hear a click as the retaining clip engages.

Slipped out on the top picture, normal on the bottom.

I live in Florida and the night before it happen was probably the coldest of the season, in the low 30's

I found it strange that the clutch would be gone so suddenly since I was under the impression clutches seem to show subtle signs of failure before they completely fail.

I checked the fluid level and it was full, but I bled the fluid and refilled. This caused a mild improvement but the clutch was still slipping very badly no matter how slowly I would drive, in all gears.

I ended up attempting to drive the car to a mechanic who was nearby. This was extremely difficult and I received a lot of horn honks from people who thought i was just driving slowly on purpose. Miraculously, on the way there the clutch completely restored itself to the point where I could not get it to slip at all.

Up until today I have not had a single problem with the clutch slipping and even took the car to the track for a few runs without issue. Last night was the first cold front for us here in Florida and sure enough my car is having the same symptoms again!

Whats the deal here? Its almost as if the cold weather is causing some issues with the fluid, but if thats the case people up north would be complaining all the time. Something is preventing the clutch from fully engaging that I believe has to be related to the cold weather, even though it only got to the low 40's so its not like there should be freezing issues.

Any input on how to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
ISSUE SOLVED I had this exact same issue my clutch is a brand new exedy. The car was driving perfectly normal with zero clutch slip. Then suddenly it instantaneously stops working and maybe 10% of power is getting to the wheels and I can’t drive anywhere. I had the car towed to my dads place to work on it and when it came off the tow truck it magically started working again. I drove the car around for about two weeks and then suddenly the same issue came up again we’re no power was getting to the wheels. I checked the rear differential and one of the CVs was pulled out about an inch and a half or so. I pushed it back into the rear differential and now the car is working perfectly again. Hope this helps

Having the same problem. Blobeye. Replaced the clutch a month ago during warmer weather clutch grabbed really great. Then colder weather hits and I get a grinding noise and slipping when I accelerate. Sometimes I get a clunck on my rear driver side under weight and acceleration. Especially with passengers on the rear driver side. Gonna look into that axle issue. Will update

Drive rear Axle had popped out of rear diff like a half inch. Just enough to see a little bit of the end of the axle. Pushed it back in and car rides like a dream again. Idk what causes this but it seems that it pops out just enough to where you lose awd.
