personally I dont really get the destroked 2.5. I guess I can see if you are going to rev to 9000 or more but why loose the low end if you dont have to? especially if its a dd.

For a GTX3576R, a destroker vs 79mm stroke 2.5 is personal preference to if you want an engine that likes to rev vs more low end grunt.
In reality, the turbo will be out of steam long before you use any revs that a 2.5 couldn't. With that being said, when Dom and I first went about doing the destroked engines, we had the mindset of it simply being a bigger EJ207. The high revs that it could take would be nice for track use in which you could over-rev heading into a corner to avoid a short upshift and subsequent downshift. So there are pros to it beyond simply comparing power and torque figures. |
