Nice Win James! Sucks about the drag strip problems at least you got it fixed for the later rounds. Though I'm sure you would have liked to spank the Evo in all three.

And Why is it people feel the need to come here to blab about mustangs? If i wanted a rear wheel drive american hog i would have bought one. I wanted an AWD preformance car with room to haul stuff. Find me a mustang with a hatch and AWD and i might consider it...

And just wait until they start finding the problems with the mustangs...it may not be today it may not be tomorrow...but they always do...they just dont publish them until they absolutely have to.

Congratulations James on a job well done. I watched a few other episodes,Viper vs. Z06, and Ford GT vs. Supra, both with 1000+hp, and with the exception of the drag race, you were faster than all others except the Viper in the slalom.
I left out the drag strip event, but here are the results vs. the others. Fastest times are in bold.
BTW, the owner of the Ford GT is also on Nasioc.

Car--------------AutoX--------Slalom

STi-------------40.961--------7.002
Z06-------------42.490--------7.303
Evo X-----------43.115--------7.154
Viper ACR-------43.533--------6.875
Ford GT---------45.170--------7.280
Supra-----------46.890---------7.960

I would rather have a well-rounded car than one that only did one thing well...both cars are capable at nearly everything, but the Subie came out on top two years in a row
It was meant as a compliment and I didn't know about the boost issue, that would have made a huge impact. I autocrossed an well prepped 05 STi in STU and a stock (well close. RSB, max neg camber, and tune) 08 STI in STU, both with decent success regionally, more so in the 05, and the torque really helps on the autocross. That being said...........

My point was, if YOU had driven both cars, with the same tires, similar mods, I think the EVO would have edged the STI, but who knows? I'm not a huge fan of the EVO X anyway and wonder what they could have done if they had kept weight down to 3300 lbs. Not bashing Subaru at all, I've owned 7 of them.

Congrats James and I dunno how no one has mentioned it or thought of it but I hope you like what I did with that little space under your SN.

And yeah, wow, two straight losses by EvolutionM makes any, if at all, next time pointless. LOL

This show is obviously for the kiddies. It was a competition between drivers, not cars. Cars were similar enough, driver skill led to the majority of each outcome. Neither of these cars were designed for the dragstrip, and 1/4 miles times vary greatly depending on a driver's ability to get off the line and row through the gears. If you don't practice it alot then you won't be quick no matter what you drive. The slalom has mostly to do with wheelbase and has no correlation to a car's abilities on a road course. Stupid show.

BUT, that was a nice looking subbie James, made my time watching worth it

It was said correctly in the video. That is how you should be pronouncing it.
Thanks. Glad it was you to verify. I've heard it several ways and couldn't figure how zzz's could get in there; but it doesn't matter when "The Godfather" says how it is supposed to be. I just hate pronouncing things wrong and I have been wrong all this time.

Harsh reality? 2 more cylinders AND turbo? Doesn't bother me that much that it is faster right now. I would think the STI is still better for handling and all around goodness though.

Fun to watch. One has to wonder about the drag with human error completely removed.

Great race James!

what ecoboost mustang... are they actually building a new svo??

The v6 mustang right now is N/A and the ecoboost "v6" will be 400hp or more if they make one. But afaik they just said they'll make an ecoboost mustang which means it could be a turbo 4.... or V8

The ecoboost taurus' run mid 12s with just a flash... lol

I'm hoping they make an ecoboost 5.0 but its not setup for direct injection so highly doubtful.

youd be suprised. the stang doesnt handle horribly like you would think...

i am aware that this is not a stang discussion. I was just replying to the previous post about power and speed. Selective reading i suppose.

About the video. comparing an scca member who avidly auto x's to a person who only drag races and has never powered through cones and before. How is that reasonably fair??

Theres 100whp civis spanking vettes, sti's, evos everyday during autox events. In my own opinion, put the sti driver in that evo, and i bet he will shave the 2-3 seconds that the evo posted

congrats on the win. looked like a ton of fun.

seems such an odd matchup tho - differently prepared cars driven by drivers with wildly different backgrounds? doesn't really prove... anything at all.

Drag : Evo was ~10% faster
AutoX: STI was ~5% faster
Slalom: STI was ~2% faster

accounting for win-margin.... the Evo was actually 3% faster overall

too bad about the STI boost issue in the drag race. would have liked to see that one come in a bit closer.

Sorry I started with the "this was a test of drivers, not cars" line of thought, but let's not beat a dead horse. It was an entertaining video, I'm sure all had fun, and James is a good driver.
