This thread is the best ever. People posting why they think their car is better always makes for a fun read. Why even bother with the comparo? Just go to C&D or Motorweek or anyone else who has done 1/4 mile and road coarse tests over the past 5 years and see what their numbers say if you even care. I'm sure you can find a stock STI in dry conditions and see what it says.
Or you could just drive your car and enjoy it. You've spent your hard earned money on your car for a reason. Who cares what anyone else thinks of it?

They're both STI's....shouldn't one Subaru love another?

First off, I hope a new car is faster around a road course because of the improvement in suspension technologies. As far as a straight line...where's the fun in that anyway? Give me twisties over a drag strip any day.

Comparison was meh, I'd like to see someone actually take their time and do it, and the video right. aka if you are going to do a segment a the end, let the guy get out of the freaking car so it doesn't look like he's trying to hide from you

Also, how am I suppose to take anything these retards say with any weight? Apparently just because I like the look of the 07 better (bias or not) I'm a bonehead or whatever childish name he called me? Posting a video on the internet doesn't give you a 35 year old excuse to act like a child.

On a side note, I'm glad that after 4 years Subaru can make them faster around the track with suspension upgrades, if they couldn't I'd question their engineering. Got to keep up with the times!

I find it interesting they picked an '07. IIRC from my Drive Performance issues (I can't recall which one this was in), Subaru did away with the forged aluminum lower control arms up front, replacing them with stamped steel ones and also decreased the rear ARB size by 1mm from 2006 to 2007. I'd argue '05/'06 were the better years.

EDIT: Found it @ http://www.driveperformance.subaru.c..._2/impreza.asp towards the bottom in the "HERE ARE ADDITIONAL FEATURES AND REVISIONS* FOR ALL 2007 IMPREZA WRX STI MODELS" section.

Very useful video if you ask me.

Some of you guys need to get out more.

Kudos to whoever made the vid - some forum geeks are never happy.

It was interesting to see both compared.

Make your own mind up after that.

That girl is an idiot...
And the 2007 looks way better than the 2011.
2005 is still the best of them all though

Isn't the gearing the same on the 07 as the 08+??

I know it's different from 06 to 07...but I thought Subaru changed the gearing in 07 and its been the same ever since on the 6spd.

This is probably the second dumbest review on NASIOC in the last two or three weeks, it's only trumped by the STi vs Ralliart review. The reviewer had a kind of a sassy "you go girlfriend" air and a complete lack of knowledge on what it takes to modify a Subaru. 08 stockers on an 07 that came with BBS's standard? wtf? Subjective metrics like interior styling? Incorrect conclusions too about said styling.

This video is total crap. Personally yes, I do like the older body better. But thats not where I say it goes to crap...

The fact that he said you can get the power easier then you could with a BMW...

He does realize that Cobb Tuning makes an AccessPORT for the BMW 335i right? And that its stage 1 gain is over 100 torque and over 70 horsepower...

Much better bang for the buck...

Only reason I don't have my BMW anymore is I needed an AWD car.

The hosts are absolutely dreadful, they had the personality of a box of hair. It made watching the video very difficult.

i like all the years 04-07, hate hate hate the hatchbacks and really like the more modern look to the 2011 (which should have came out first in 08' with the hatch offered later as an option) cars. i like the new car for more than the exterior, it actually has room in the backseat for those of us that measure over 5'9'' tall lol. i really hate taking trips with 4 people in my car and i have to move my seat up like 3-4in so someone behind can fit and actually get feeling in their legs lol. besides the new cars are not really anymore heavy than the older models either (and they are 200lbs LIGHTER than all Evo X models). they had to update the looks eventually, aside from front/rear end updates, the interior/chassis of the older ones were most certainly getting dated no one can argue that. i swear these forum nazis never fail to amuse me lol. give it another year or two and i guarantee people will adore the model (just like every model year ever) and a good amount of people will make the switch.

I don't agree with this comparison between sti 2011 vs sti 2007. They should use the 07 bbs gold rims 17x8 wheels not the 08 / 09 STi wheels so stupid. The 08-10 sti wheels 18x8.5 it's so heavy plus the weigh 27lbs each with out tires.

Too bad NASIOC is associated with these clowns. Every test and comparison they release seems a 6th grader could develop more fairly using the scientific method song alone.

Dude 1 - "Hey guys, lets do a video comparing the new 11' STi to an old one!"
Guy 2 - "Great idea bro! We'll use this 07'."
Dude 1 - "Are those aftermarket wheels?"
Guy 2 - "Na, they came OEM on the 08', they're stock."
Dude 1 - "Great! So after we perform some totally biased tests, we'll rate the cars based on arbitrary criteria like how we think they look."

Driving Sports.

The sedan starts @ $34K. Not sure if you can still find 'em, but the SE was $33K. I paid $34K out the door for mine.
